Contact FDIC regarding Juniper

I posted earlier of the horror I've been through with this company. I found out that the FDIC handles cases like this and Barclay/Juniper is one of their responsibilities. Call them at 877-275-3342, they told me to write up the problems I've had with them and fax (703-812-1020) it over to them or go to their site FDIC.gov
I sent my in Friday and hope to see some action soon.
I HIGHLY SUGGEST EVERYONE DO THIS!! If they see how many of us there are that are getting completely screwed by this company they should take it seriously and see how dishonest and I believe unlawful this company is.

RE: Barclay credit card

Please for your sake DO NOT use this card. I have a 7.95 credit score and they have double my interest rate. I made a $100.00 phone payment but they took $400.00. Any complaint falls on deaf ears. Your credit score is based on the amount of credit extended /issued to you. Also debt to income ratio..so do not use this one...you will run your credit before you ever get to rebuild. But check monthly to make sure they have not put charges on it. Now if you close accounts it goes against your credit score. Good Luck
Honest here in Texas

Barclays/Juniper US phone #!!!!

Does anyone out there have a phone number that is answered in the US???!!! I've talked to individuals in the Manilla and I know they have NO authority and are just reading from a script.

I've tried to resolve a late payment fee (1 day late) since October '08. Finally gave up last month (January) and paid off the balance (all late fees and finance charges as I quite using the card) and closed account. The payment was posted two days after I called resulting in ANOTHER late payment fee. I'm fed up!! What can I do!???

Paid the fools off

I have paid off this account. When I opened it in August as an Airtran promotion I received a $10,000 limit. When I was in Long Island, NY on vacation they lowered it to $5960. It didn't harm me as I was still able to use the card for my hotel because my available credit was still low. But it greatly irritated me they did this without any notification.

So, after encountering the same rudeness as everyone else from their customer service I simply paid them off. I will close the account in a couple of months. For now I'm simply watching it making sure they don't add any funky charges.

They are the pitts of credit cards, but also a clear sympton of why people are cutting spending even if they pay their bills on time and are/were good customers.

Because of Juniper I've gone to a virtual cash only basis and have paid off two credit cards and lowered my balance on the other two within the past month to well below 25% of my balance. Every 3 months or so I may charge a tank of gas to them to keep them active and positive on my credit score but I'm done with relying on banks and/or credit cards.

And banks wonder why they are losing money. Sheesh!

Liars and crooks

I took Juniper/Barclays up on one of their introductory offers, transferred balances from other cards, and then paid off the balance, or so I thought. Closed the account and went along fat dumb and happy, until I received an email from Juniper stating I had a balance! Due to their strange way of computing finance charges, I had $8.80 left after paying off the amount on my statement (over $1400). I got hit with a $1 minimum finance charge and a $39 late fee!

The customer service (hah) rep in Manila or wherever agreed that $40 was a bit much to charge someone who was obviously paying the account in full and she politely took off the fees, charged my checking account $8.80, and gave me a confirmation number. Imagine my surprise when I got an email from Juniper yesterday informing me of an upcoming payment date! I called, got someone else in Manila who made me listen to 10 minutes of hold music and then told me that the CSR I spoke with four days before couldn't take the charges off. I mentioned the confirm number, as if that was going to do any good. The upshot is, after about 15 more minutes of going around in circles I've just paid these ashwipes $48.80 for an $8.80 balance -- charges that would have been waived by any reputable credit card company.

I'm STEAMING MAD but it's obvious from reading earlier posts that I won't win against these crooks. So, I can only add my voice to everyone else's and urge you to NEVER HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH JUNIPER / BARCLAYS!

RE: Juniper/Barclay

Yes, I agree that Chase is a terrible bank ... the worst. Juniper/Barclay is the second worst. Was a day late with a payment (due to my new checking account posting it 5 days after it was supposed to go through). Will never deal with either ever again.

Juniper bank credit card is vicious and ruthless

I have always made my payments on time and never ever missed a single payment. However, since the past month or so they have started sending automated messages on my home phone answering machine saying stuff like ---

"Hello, this is juniper bank. Your credit card payment is due in 3 weeks"

I mean what the heck? 3 weeks are there for payment deadline and they start calling before. They called like this at least 50 times. Even on sundays, during evenings and dinner time too. Furthermore, a human rep would never come on the line. When i asked juniper what is all this nonsense, they never responded.

Definitely the WORST credit card of all. I regret opening account with them. Not to mention the 28% APR they imposed on me when all the other cards have 9% APR.

Juniper Credit Card

I had been using my card for over 3 years at purchase rate of 11.99. I got close to the credit limit around the holidays, so I stopped using it. BAM! With the interest tacked onto my purchases, I was $20 over my credit limit. Not only was I charged a $39 fee, but my interest rate was increased to 22.24%!!!!!! I've always made 2 to 3 times the minimum payment at least 2 weeks before it was due. While speaking to an Account Manager today, the only thing the bank will do is lower my rate to 20%. WOOHOO - That will surely help in this economically depressed time!!!! No matter what I pay, the better part of my payment will go to interest. Guess that's one way for Barclay Bank to stay afloat!!!! Charging usury rates!

Fight!

I wrote my US Senators and Congressman, the BBB, the US and state's attorney Generals, and all government regulatory agencies. The FDIC took up the case and the office of Thrift Supervision did as well. Juniper continued to harrass and hold to their company line.
When the feds got involved Barclays stopped the harrassing phone calls and closed the account. The Feds forced them to submit all contracts, aggreements, disclosures and communication. This is one thing they don't want to do.
If you think you are right, it's worth the fight.

Barclays received money from AIG

On CNN this morning (3/16/09) AIG named the banks it had given part of the U.S. taxpayer bailout to. Juniper/Barclay's received just under $1 billion to shaft U.S. credit card holders with. We should be demanding that all phone calls from U.S. card holders be answered in the U.S. by American citizens, not in the Phillipines or whereever else in the world that Juniper/Barclays can discriminate against U.S. consumers while receiving our tax money to keep them afloat.

Barclays Credit Card

I suggest that all who read this to check on the upcoming hike in interest if they are not aware of it yet.

They are hiking credit card holders another 6% on average. and putting the default % at 29.99.

This is out of nowhere. I have had two cards with them for about 5 years. No late payment - Always paying more than the minimum. Always pay in advance of due date.

I called them and got bull is all. It's just the decision by the bank even thought prime is at it's lowest in a decade.

They will be losing my business as of the end of the week.

Juniper Bank

I never had a problem with my Juniper Bank MasterCard account. However, I have canceled it. They raised my credit limit before the banking crises, then, they lowered it. Not they are changing the APR from a fixed 8.99% to a 14.99% plus prime. Although I pay in full every month, the low 8.99% fixed rate was the only reason I got the card in the first place. Enough is enough. No more game play.

RE: Barclays Credit Card

I got the same notice but slightly different terms. No rate increase, but one late payment and it goes to 29.99

They apparently want customers to opt out and close the account. Well I was using the card only to pay for school and currently I am in in my last semester so I don't need the card anymore and have no problems doing exactly what they want.

They are not the only CC company that is going nuts like this. Capital one, who used to be a good company is doing the same thing. My mom had a zero balance on her capital one till dad died a few months ago. As soon as she put his funeral expenses on the card, they hit her quick. We know several other people they did the same. I had some school on it and sure enough I got a letter right after my mom's only they are giving me a year to pay before they jack up the rate. They are doing this because of the new laws going into place in '10 that stop them from jacking up existing balances. Yet I have read the new laws were passed by friends of the CC companies because stronger laws would have been passed if their friends in gov't had not acted first. The only way banks are ever going to be fair again is to remove these anti-public folks in gov't that are owned by the banks. It doesn't matter if they are Dems or Repubs, if they are working against the public they should be exposed and removed from office.

Good luck to everyone during these difficult times!

Juniper Bank / Barclays Immoral and Unethical

Juniper Bank / Barclays are the most immoral, unethical, rude and deceitful credit card company I have ever encountered. DO NOT deal with these folks. Tell your friends and family to avoid Juniper Bank / Barclays at all costs.
