Love, Tension, a lot of Rewards.

Apr 24 '00

Hello this is a prospective form the other side of parenting. the child's prospective of course. My name is Joshua, age 20, and I am one of six siblings. This is my advice for those of you who are wondering if a huge "Brady Bunch" is for you. From my perspective is definatly yes, and I would not have wanted it any other way. My parents were not perfect parents in any of the sense, but where there is a will there is a way. Of course there are a lot of tense moments in a big family, like if the grocery money was going to stretch, or getting in some personal time with either one of your parents (the whole sibling rivalry really kicks in) and these are some of the things that come into play when deciding on a big family or not. You must be willing to sit down and look at the hard facts and not be naieve and jump into this and expect it to be "the Brady Bunch" with an Alice to jump in and pitch in. There is a lot of reality in a family of this size, but the rewards are so much bigger. I always had someone to play with. Bigger family's (at least mine did) seem to stick by each other through the tough times and the love that pours out through all of it out weighs everything else. Good luck on your decision.
