won't matter, I think to myself as I scoop up a beautiful silky, black cat. OMG, what to do? I have 7, yes, I will spell it out for you, seven cats at home already.
Mike's going kill me, briefly spurts through my mind as I head for the vet's office. Gosh, how much do they charge for feline leukemia tests? Please, please let it be neutered and have a chip telling me where his home is, but nooo not with my luck!
I knew it, poor kitty, he is not neutered, has a horrid case of ear mites and is being eaten alive by fleas. As I look into his trusting, big, gold eyes, I knew I was hooked. I just had to take care of ???? Oh no, now I need a name. Mike is really going to kill me!!
Those are just a few of the thoughts that flew through my head as I saved yet another stray cat. I couldn't just leave him, he was sooo friendly running up to everyone to be loved on. I found him outside our pediatrician's office, right along side of a very busy road. He'd have been squashed for sure if I had left him or ended up as someone cruel Halloween joke. He is a black cat, NOT a good thing at this time of the year.
OK, let see, $49.00 for the feline leukemia test and treatment for ear mites and fleas. Then another $125.00 for the spay/neutered, vaccinations, and another cleaning of the ears. Geez, this is getting kinda pricey!
Another kitty mouth to feed, I must be crazy, this is it, I promise not one more. I can't afford it. Of course I mean it, how can you not believe me? Uh, well yes, I know I do have eight cats now, I know, and three dogs, yes, and a dove, your right I don't need any more animals. But it's not my fault, they just seem to come to me, I swear I must have some sort of marker that says, "Hey, sucker for animals right here!"
Well, how about a name? Brennah, my three year old gets the honors and does a very nice job! We would like to welcome Bubbles to our household.
I have tried to keep this on the light side, but now for a serious chat.
A female cat usually has from 4-8 kittens, say 1/2 are girls , and they each have 4-8 kittens, and 1/2 of them are girls and have 4-8 kittens, etc...As you can see, it adds up very, very fast.
Please keep your cats indoors, BETTER A HAPPY HOUSECAT THAN A FLATCAT! No, it is not mean to keep them indoors, sheesh, they sleep 15-18 hours a day, and where would you rather sleep, on a nice, warm, cushy couch or in a pile of dirt? Gee, I'd want the cushy tushy!
So if you love your pet, spay or neuter your pets. Volunteer a little of your time at an animal shelter. Give donations to help with low-cost spay/neuter programs. Get involved, make a difference, an animal somewhere needs your help.
Just a note, if you hadn't guessed, Mike is my hubby, and I have to give some credit to Syenna, my resident computer cat, she always sleeps on top of my monitor and sends little thoughts my way, just to help out, ya know. LOL
I have officially stepped off the band-wagon. Smiles to ya, Char
