Pros: Easy to use, stays clean, durable Cons: expensive, in a high traffic area it may open when someone walks by
I received this garbage can as a birthday gift from my father. At first I thought... "what a strange gift" But once I put it together and used it, I was hooked. All you have to do is hold your hands above the can and it opens. When you are done it ...

Garbage In Garbage Out - Piece Of Trash
by biggbyrd ,Jan 15 '08
Pros: Wonderful gadget if your intentions are to use it once or twice a month. Cons: Not for multiple uses on a daily basis.
Worked as demonstrated and advertised. Lasted a little over a month when the part on the lid that raises and lowers the lid sheared off. So much for "automatic".
Touchless is asking $40 to replace the lid. I paid less than $50 for the entire unit at Costco.

Great trashcan
by king10000 ,Jun 16 '06
Pros: Everything, nice to not have to open lid with hands full Cons: Just hoping lid motor holds up long term
It has been great for the 2 weeks we've had it, no problems with set up, shipping, etc. The noise of the lid going up is nothing, you don't notice it at all. Lid stays up for about 6 seconds which is more than enough time, but they also have buttons to open and close it if you'd like. 4 D batteries power the lid.
My only concern is how long the motor of it holds up, but other than that I'm very satisifed, especially when you consider how much a "regular" stainless trashcan costs. I've seen some that are not nearly as big as this one (13 galoon/50 liter I believe) that cost much more.
As mentioned elsewhere in this review section, I doubt you'll find this cheaper anywhere else than on Amazon, last I looked it was $75 with free shipping.

itouchless is bad!
by borekas ,Oct 01 '08
Pros: When it works, it's neat. Cons: See my review. It breaks!
I received this trash can as a gift and after six months, the lid broke and rendered the whole thing useless. itouchless would not honor the waranty since I didn't purchase it. So I bought a replacement lid for $40. It broke after six months. They will not honor the warranty because it's a "replacement part."
First, I don't care what you call it (replacement part or anything else), it's what I spent my money on and should be under warranty.
Second, so do I need to break the cannister (the non-mechanical part of this) in order to get them to honor the warranty?
Finally, why do these keep breaking after six months? Obviously they are crappy!
