what happens when the appliance is defective
Jan 28 '00
I bought a Sears brand refrigerator on moving to a new home.
The choice for Sears came from the old saying " You can always trust Sears" from all the elders in my family. Besides that was the only credit card I owned.
My relationship with my new appliance and Sears became on going. I bought the warranty by the way.
Wasn't long I noticed the food in the storage area froze. I tried adjusting the controls. That was to no avail. One day I opened my freezer and noticed a space around the seam with the storage light showing through. I called Sears and told them my problem. I couldn't see any other solution to the problem but to replace the refrigerator since it was a defect in construction. I was put off time and again until the warranty had run out. I had to live with this problem for the next eight years. At that time the icemaker went and since my son desperately needed a refrigerator, I gave it to him with pleasure.
I purchased a Whirlpool since the price and size was just right. (I have heard Whirlpool is made by Sears). I am pleased with this choice but needless to say I did not buy an extended warranty. I felt the price of this one was half the price of the first, I was ahead already
