Baby's first tool.

May 22 '00

My children love helping their Dad in the shop. One of the first things they were taught was how to use the cordless drill and screw driver. He would take out the bit and let them pretend to drill with it. They were thrilled to be able to help and it kept them from trying to play with the more dangerous tools.
Children should be taught shop safety. They should never be allowed to use power tools unsupervised. If you plan on having your children in the shop with you, please make sure the safety features are intact and in working order. If you are not using it lock it up or unplug it. All poisons should be kept out of a child's reach. Get your kids used to wearing safety gear at a young age. Goggles and a mask look cute on little ones. Add a tool belt and a little hammer and it is adorable.
