Cons: Price - $40.
Recently I was trying to establish Internet connection sharing between my desktop and my laptop. On both machines I have Windows 2000 Professional System. First I tried to do it through Windows but I was not successful with it. I could share files and...

"Single NIC" technology is cool!

by Jim.W , Nov 08 '00
Pros: Only need one NIC in the server, easy to set up and run.
Cons: Data rate to the client is slower than with a hardware router, not much cheaper than an RT311.
I recently got a broadband connection and have been looking for a way to occasionally share it among the two computers in my home which were already networked via Ethernet. At first I tried an SMC Barricade hardware router (see my epinion

by fsponge , Feb 20 '01
Pros: Works right away, no effort required. No reconfiguration, very straightforward
Cons: You should plan ahead so you don't incur costs when upgrading
I've tried just about everything for sharing an internet connection, so I can safely say that SyGate is the best connection sharing software available.

Perfect for home use

by jtjackson , Mar 20 '01
Pros: Easy to install, worked right away, and pretty cheap...
Cons: ... But not free.
OK, my pros and cons about the price might be a cop-out, but Microsoft does provide free software to do some of this in Win 98SE. When I first needed this software, I had Win 95, so ICS wasn't an option, anyway, so that actually eliminates my only con....

Can't live without it

by scpatterson , May 03 '01
Pros: It does what its supposed to do very well and is still configurable
Cons: Not many I can think of, totally happy with the product
Saying I'm very happy with this product is an understatement. I first tried some freeware solutions but they were minimal in function - Sygate has Activity logs, access control and permissions as well as an essential auto-dialing function for those of us...

After using Internet connection sharing from Microsoft on my work computers, I wanted to use a similar program at home. Not having Windows 98SE,I did not have the option to install their software. After trying several other internet sharing programs, I...

Pros: WORKS PERFECTLY!!!

If you have a broadband connection and want to share a DSL/cable line in your network, you need this software!
