False Information In Cincy

by nina_me , Oct 24 '06
Pros: Unlimited minutes (long distance and local) Unlimited text messages, caller id, call waiting
Cons: Service unreliable, cuts out all the time, customer service is located in another country
I am a Cricket customer of only 2 months now and am not happy with the service. I got the first month free after paying $100 for the phone nad free activation. Those things are nothing in comparison to what I've dealt with. From time to time I try tot ...

I Guess I've Been Lucky!

by rlizard813 , Jan 03 '03
Pros: Low flat rate for phone service.
Cons: Features cost extra, customer service lacking.
I'm 23 and fresh out of college. When I made that decision to finally get a cell phone, I went to some other big name providers and was told I would need to put down a $200-500 deposit because I had no credit. (Not BAD credit, just NO credit). So I...

Welcome to Cricket, now BEND OVER
by ricksky ,Sep 18 '08
Pros: They are not verizon

Cons: see above

All cell phone companies are the same, with that in mind, Cricket sucks! 1) You can only call 1-800-crciket twice a month, but when you call the 3rd you just sit on hold, and no one or no computer tells you that no one will pick up.

2) My Motorola V3 keypad stopped working after less than 60 days after, and even thought I have insurance, I had to pay $45 to replace the phone!

I was told "I don't make the rules, you don't have to do this if you don't want to."

3) When you go to their store, you will sit in an uncomfortable plastic chair for 1 hour waiting for some help.

4) they Nickel & Dime you to death, and charge extra for everything, including insurace, which apparently is not as good as they say.
They only tell you the good stuff when you first sign up, and when you have a problem THEN they tell you the bad stuff, and that the bad stuff is listed in the pamphlet they give you.

Cricket is full of bugs
by mary64chicago ,Feb 24 '09
Pros: concept is wonderful
pretty color ad
advertising
Cons: horrible inept service
terrible tech support
no refunds even less then a week
Concept is great, follow thru NOT.
Second day I had the phone, my child's school could not reach me.  When they dialed the number came out as unknown number.  I could call in, they could not call me back. I went into school, showed the dean what happens.

After being hung up on by tech support 4 times, writing an email no response.  I went to the place I purchased it, when the store tried to call their rep, their phone said it was unknown number.

I have now gone with us cellular, its a lil more money but very reliable.

Cricket works great in Portland!
by liberty1225 ,Apr 08 '07
Pros: Great service, few dropped calls, flat rate.
Cons: Had to pay $199 for the phone.
I switched from Cingular and I can tell you that I have dropped a lot less calls with Cricket. Their service downtown is a lot better and I usually have better service than my girlfriend who has Verizon. Unlimited local and long distance. I'm glad I made the switch.

they are so so
by goodtimes92618New Member ,Nov 16 '09
Pros: cheap unlimited plan
Cons: crap internet, crap customer service, crap over priced phones,
There phones are way over priced, their 3G internet acess is horrible. Can't get on most sites like you would be able to with verizon or t-mobile. What's funny is I'll have full bars without moving anywhere, and as soon as i make the call.. the bars magically disappear. Same with the internet, it will say 3G and then when i try to use it, the phone won't get on and switches to 1x for net access. The only good thing is that's it's cheap for unlimited phone calls, but they will nickel and dime you for any other feature. I also get connection errors when sending text in full bars.. i called on it a few times and they "refresh" my phone which does nothing what so ever.

Solid Value
by hdtravel ,Nov 21 '09
Pros: Good Value
Cons: Limited coverage area.
I purchased the pre-paid Cricket Broadband service for my Apple MacBook and it works great. I got the A600 modem.
Easy to buy, setup and use.
They give you 2 free days to try it out. It worked well around town here in Albuquerque NM so I bought a top-up card and I am good to go for a month.
Getting 750 Kbps down and 120 Kbps up. Perfectly adequate for general Web browsing.
I do recommend it.

Parents--watch out!!
by anonymous64 ,Oct 09 '04
Pros: Extremely easy to get service . . .
Cons: . . . can my 8 year old get his own phone without my permission?
After my daughter abused her cell phone privileges several months ago, I took away her Cricket phone and canceled her service. But, now, apparently, Cricket no longer requires users to sign a contract, so my 14-year-old daughter was able to set up her own service without a parent's permission! I called again to cancel her service, as she is a minor and as such cannot enter into a legal and binding contract, and I do not want her to have a cell phone. After the hassle of trying to get a LIVE customer service representative to talk to me (they make it VERY difficult), I was told by three people that the only person who could cancel the service was the person on the bill--a minor. As a parent, they told me, I cannot cancel the contract--because there "is no contract"!! BE VERY WARY of this company's very poor customer service and the fact that it caters to minors to the EXCLUSION of their parents!!!

Forget new customers
by burger2227 ,Jan 15 '04
Pros: PROS at ripping people off
Cons: Customer Service is from ex-con artists
When I activated my Cricket phone, I was told by the csr that if I paid monthly by credit card, they would give me a $55 credit toward my monthly bills. I gave the rep my card info and he said all was well. Two weeks later I get a paper bill from Cricket for the amount of $67. plus 55 cents for them mailing the bill. When I called the csr's at the help desk they said they had no credit card info on their computer screens. I was told there was nothing they could do. I asked to talk to their manager who came eventually. He said that it was too bad and actually accused me of lying about what the first csr did. Then he said there was no way to find out who it was. Finally he offered to disconnect service. This would cost me $130 (phone) plus $67 (first bill) plus $150 for cancellation of service contract. $347! I had used the phone 20 days.

Cricket needs to have it's legs pulled off!
by stjeff ,Jan 08 '05
Pros: The Price $45 a month. Completely automated no customer service.
Cons: Voice mail doesn't work. Won't call other cell phones (by design I'm sure).
Tried this servce, but I think I need to look for another service.
The price is fine around $45 a month. The Phone is fine(should have got a flip instead of this Nokia).
The service is what stinks.
I have actually got voice mail up to a week after a caller left it.
Try explaining to someone you just got their voice mail, when they called you the previous week. They won't believe it. Also when I try and call other cell phones, it sais there long distance and I haven't paid my bill hahah Since it goes automatic onto my credit card. Either try another service, or forget cell phones all together for awhile.

Do not recommend cricket
by _classy ,Oct 13 '03
Pros: Month to Month type contract; not long term. Rebate after 90 days of service.
Cons: Failure to maintain cell signal for cell service activation. Makes you wonder if ..
I tried four times to activate cell phone service by dialing their 611 number on a Cricket phone call the Phantom. I dialed the various dialing selections three times and the signal was lost. During the third call, the representative was smart enough to take a phone number to call me back in case we lost the connection. That was at about 10am this morning; it's now about 3:15pm. I guess he wasn't able to call back; I presume the rep was smart enough to do that.
The fourth time I called, I spoke to Arturo who did not know how to check and see if the information I had thrice given was in the system. I would think it is somewhere in their system; the reps have just got to be showing a call history in some kind of data bank, in some kind of form, so that call center mangers can monitor progress, study trends of calls and call types.

I do not recommend this company for cell phone service.

Cricket Communications
by alethiajackson ,Oct 06 '04
Pros: You get unlimited local calling
Cons: The service area is to limited.
My experience using this product is not very good. I bought this product for the unlimited calling. But I did not realize that the service is so limited. I do not get service except in my town. For the amount of money I spent a month not having service is unexceptable.
