| psugrowler's Full Review: Black & Decker S500 ScumBuster Handheld Vacuum |
ScumBuster is the deserving tag applied to any fool who buys this product. Black & Decker should go kill themselves. That may sound a bit harsh, but where’s my compensation?
I bought this piece of junk at Kmart as an impulse buy. I figured $30 to spend on an appliance that would take the elbow grease out of scouring the tub and kitchen sink wasn’t much of an investment. This device would better serve as an electronic loofah for Mr. Clinton’s bath time friend, M-O-N-I-C-A! ‘cause it certainly didn’t get the sludge off of my porcelain tub.
This fun pack includes a submersible scrubber, four pads and brushes, a VersaPak rechargeable battery and a convenient tote bag. Convenient enough to send it packing and into the trash. I left the ScumBuster in the box for about a week or so and let the grit build up in the kitchen sink while the ring around the tub turned from a pleasant orange hue to a donkey manure taupe.
I was truly excited to see this device go to work. I’m not one to skimp on housework, but why not cut a corner or two and have fun. This wouldn’t be the case. This versatile wonder cleaner boasts that it is safe to submerge in water, ideal for pot scrubbing, works wide areas and details.
Upon first execution the ScumBuster came to a grinding halt. The fully charged VersaPak died after three revolutions. The ScumBuster left the kitchen sink sparkling clean but not without me pushing and panting behind it. The scrub pad was heavily worn as I went for broke getting my last dime’s worth, knowing that this ScumBuster was headed straight for the product graveyard. The other three attachments wouldn’t be much help with the motor disabled.
ScumBuster lacks the versatility they claim. If the ScumBuster is a great piece of machinery they would have included a soft brush to clean your car and maybe even a wax applicator. I hope the manufacturers are at peace with the profits from this piece of bona fide junk.
Scumbuster – makes a great gift for someone you truly hate.
