“Price check on panty liners with wings please.”
One of my friends told me that a cashier had to ask over the microphone to get a price on a feminine product one time when she went to the pharmacy, so I make sure that I go to a bar code place like Wal-Mart or check for a price tag at smaller pharmacies around here.
CVS online takes care of that problem. I like to compare products and prices, and I will do that online though I will not stand there in the body product isle with two little boys and ponder much on regular or super or on a few cents more or less.
Generally I buy things like personal care items at CVS online as well as basic bathroom supplies and some health items like vitamins. Since shipping is free with $40 and over on the order, I stock up. I also watch for sales and will get a lot of soap or Kleenex that we use on a regular basis. Shipping is only $3.95 on a standard 3-10 day order, so it’s not really high. It still helps to save especially when I know I will use the items.
CVS has most of the products I need or want. They advertise that they have over 10,000 items online. They don’t have items like candy and cards like the CVS in town, but they have most of the staples. Sometimes they even have things like the George Foreman Grill. I think they add bigger ticket things when they have a lot of those at the regular stores.
While I love being able to shop for health and beauty items, I think the pharmacy idea could be great online. I spoke with a customer service person and thought about the idea, but most of the prescriptions I get are one-shot buys and needed right then. I really don’t want to wait overnight for antibiotics when the boys get streph throat or something like that.
If I ever need maintenance type meds, then I will look at this service. They need the paper copy of the prescription on controlled products or you transfer a refill from a CVS or another drugstore to the online space. Once you have that set up, then they email to remind you that you need to refill when it is time. They check about your insurance and will let you know if they can file or not. I could see this working great for my Grandma who has a leg off, but she does not have net service and can’t type.
As a product-only shopper right now, I like several things about the site:
-24 hour help by email or phone
-lots of helpful information through the site and also through partner Web MD
-good specials especially through the Dove soap company (they had some great soft blankets for free last winter that the boys love and a fleece pullover this year with a modest purchase of soap products)
-low shipping and free over $40
The things I don’t like are:
-pharmacy does not work out for sudden needs
-sale items are listed by several pages and hard to sort
-selection is not quite as good as the local store
I have been really happy with CVS for bath, beauty, and personal hygiene items. It is convenient to shop online and then get the packages at the post office. The site has good prices, great sales, nice free gifts at times, and they are helpful when you call them. I will continue to stock up from time to time with over-$40 orders.
