Construction of socks is a factor as well

The Bottom Line Construction for comfort and material for use.
Many people do not yet realize the evolution of socks has advanced greatly in the last 5 years. Many people already know that material is a big factor when choosing socks but yet many are not aware of how important the construction of the sock it self is in support and comfort. Advancement in socks has largely been due to the Computerized technology of knitting machines. With today's advancements in we can program the computer to knit the same sock with different construction material and shapes. My advice for purchasing socks is to realize the reason you wear the socks in the first place comfort and foot care, do not look at socks as something you need to wear in order to put on your shoes. I tend to purchase my shoes a half a size bigger but compensate for it by always wearing terry cushioned socks. This allows my feet to breath in side my shoes and maintain great comfort and shock absorbency. If you can cushioned socks are always the way to go, hand sewn toes seams for maximum comfort, mixture should around 70% to 80%, spandex lycra are great to make up the 20% but nylon will be good as well, or a combination of the 3. For those of you who are looking for crew socks I would recommend cool-max or some kind of moisture absorbing material. Pay close attention to construction of the sock, mesh materials are good for circulation, make sure the heal is cut separately, Here is an example of a well constructed socks.(http://sockbroker.com/brutini/meshmesh.JPG )
Notice the heal the mesh, the cushioned bottom and the moisture control material, and how the top ribbed in the front is constructed differently than the back of the sock.
