When will the PS3 be here?

The Bottom Line Based on the specs (because that's all I have), I highly recommend it.
At the request of an Epinions member, I have moved this review to the Writer's Corner since the PS3 hasn't been released yet.
That's a great question that no one seems to know the answer to right now. Sony has hinted it will come out in "Spring 2006" but nothing is definite. The rumors point to a March 2006 release.
Since this product isn't out yet, it can't be fully reviewed, but I'll do my best.

The PS3 will have the capability to have graphics that haven't been seen in video games before. The 2 TFLOPS of performance will allow more than ever before. It will be more life-like than any gaming system has reached before. This quote is taken from a PS2 website: "On paper, the PS3 is 2x more powerful than the Xbox 360 and 15x more powerful than the Nintendo Revolution. It has a processing capacity of 2.18 TFLOPS, which is put into context when you realise the FASTEST computers in existence can only do 36 Terraflops. Rumors state the system will be around $300, but some of the specs point to a little higher price tag. Many people guess it will be closer to $400 for the entire system. And, with the release of the new XBOX system (not the core system) and it's price tag of $400, this is a good signal that the PS3 will be close to the same price.
The PS3 will play all of the PS2 and PS1 games so you won't have to try to sell your old games when you get a new system. If Sony decided not to allow this, I think it would greatly hurt their sales as most gamers want to continue playing their old games along with a few new ones they get each year.
The controllers for the PS3 will have a new design. I've heard it called an "alien" design or "boomerang" design. I like the "boomerang" design name more since that better describes it. I'm sure it will take some getting used to, but you can bet it won't hurt the sales any.
All in all, the PS3 is one of the most anticipated game systems in history. Unfortunately, Sony didn't get this out for Christmas 2005. I don't know if this was part of their marketing strategy or not, but whatever their reasons, it won't be out for a few more months. I'll be waiting for mine when it hits the stores.
