Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is an overachiever. He’s so good at his job as a Metropolitan Police Officer the rest of the department looks shabby in comparison. For that reason, he’s transferred to the sleepy village of Sandford.

The slower pace of Angel’s new home and the odd assortment of characters he encounters, tests his patience. His partner is a man-child in need of guidance and the other members of the force are riddled with attitude towards Angel’s big city ways. The Neighborhood Watch Alliance is obsessed with a human statue that turns up at odd times and the local newspaperman is a terrible speller.

When suspicious accidents begin to occur, he struggles to convince his colleagues something more sinister is afoot. It will take all his experience, the help of a newfound friend and a lot of luck to solve this case.

Hot Fuzz is well plotted and loose ends are tied up neatly. The pacing was slow and though there is an abundance of humor, nothing really stands out. Adult language and violence keep this from being suitable for children. It’s not a total waste of time but it resembles the kiddy rides at the amusement park. Great for what they are but not as thrilling as the roller coaster or Ferris wheel.
