talyseon's Full Review: Kazuto Tatsukawa - Beyond Scandalous Seiryo Univer...
Beyond Scandalous Seiryo University By Tatsukawa Kazuto.
Warning: This is a Yaoi review. Yaoi is a form of Japanese graphic novels, a manga featuring gay romance. Usually written by women, for women, this stories range from sweet romances to extremely steamy sexual adventures between men. If this is not your cup of tea, well, you have been warned.
Back in Volume One, we were introduced to Hajizume Yuichi, the sociopathic President of the Student Council, and his lover, Misonoi Tsuyoshi, who this year is the Vice President. They have had to overcome misunderstandings, and the interference of Yuichis creepily interested brother, Yuichiro.
Now the lovers have a new problem; work! Yuichi was not bashful about foisting his work off on his vice president. But now his VP is his lover, and he is helping him get through the work. Misonoi is exhausted, and Yuichi is too sweet to rape him while hes unconscious.
They work that around, then meet Yukino Hinako, an incredibly cute sweet girl or is she? Nope, Yuichi spots it immediately. Shes a he, and the purpose of the get up, to get into girls only areas so he can take pictures! Hes a hard core Peeping Tom! Finally having found someone more perverted than himself, Yuichi makes him his secretary.
There are further problems; there are students from St. Casiel, a rival University who bear Yuichi a serious grudge. They decide to hit him in his weak spot Misonoi Tsuyoshi!
Unfortunately, they kidnap the wrong student, and get Ishida Kaori, the Ethics Chairman, instead, because he too is blond, and wearing a red jacket.
So its off to rescue Ishida! Yano Ryosuke, the class accountant, and Misonoi are on the move. Yano gets cut in the palm of his hand when he breaks in on the idiots taking pictures of a raunchy nature of Ishida to make sure he keeps quiet. You get the feeling maybe Yano has feelings for Ishida.
Unfortunately, the fact that it got this far out of hand has the Chairman telling Yuichi that he will be going abroad for a year of study! The Chairman is in point of fact, Yuichis father! What does this mean for our heroes? And who is behind this devious plot? And, since both boys are seniors, who will be the heroes of the next installment? And yes, there will be another installment.
Yaoi is fun, a real change of pace. It is written for Japanese women, who love angsty doomed relationships, and comic books that border on pornography. This is a very happy little Yaoi, without much major trauma or drama.
Yuichi makes a great Seme or dominant partner. (The Pitcher) He is different because he is rather silly, and wears glasses, but very traditional in that he knows exactly what he wants, and is not even a little shy about going for it.
Tsuyoshi is a great Uke or passive partner, (The Catcher) because he is less traditional. He has some doubts, and gets flustered, but he knows what he likes, and while he wishes Yuichi could resist doing it where they keep getting caught, he doesnt put up too much of a fight. He also does not depend on his lover for his backbone, being able to take care of himself.
Together, their exploits have been a very fun read.
The Art of Seiryo is great. Kazuto has a very nice style, crisp and clean, with a strong understanding of anatomy and proportion and perspective. While she follows the Japanese censorship traditions, she barely complies, and this comic leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination. This comic is not for kids, folks!
Still, it is a sweet romance, as well as a steamy sexcapade, and that makes it a definite cut above the other Yaoi out there.
This review, like Yuichi, is Lean-N-Mean, a style promoting conciseness in writing. Sleeper54 set it at 666 words or under. This on clocks in at 657.
