Pros: $10 a month membership, cheap down payment, no contract, accommodating hours.
Cons: Parking sucks, owners are lazy, rude management, filthy place.
The Bottom Line: Spend the extra cash and avoid like the plague or other wise you risk catching it here.

| urbanman's Full Review: Planet Fitness |
I've been a member of Planet Fitness in falls church, VA since it converted from its previous chain, Olympus, and paying less money per month might be a bonus for most but it is not worthy putting up with the filthy premises, rude management team, and obnoxious rules.
I generally work out in the evening but I've had to switch to coming in during lunch which is inconvenient for me because of my tight work schedule. Why? At night a thick layer of smoke creeps in from the bar next day and overpowers the section where all the cardio machines are located. Obnoxious bass beats can be felt through the walls too as I'm pedaling on th bike machine or taking a run on the treadmill. But that is more tolerable and no where near detrimental to your health as the perpetual cig smoke that comes through.
Plumbing often leaks from above ( the facility is located beneath a strip mall) and at various times you can see buckets collecting WASTE from the pipes above. This place is a breeding ground for cholera or some other old school disease.
The mirrors that surround the free weight section is a haven of filth, it looks as if someone has been popping their zits all over the place. The janitors wipe down the machines but seem to neglect the mirrors. You can see hand smears, foot smears, dirt, who knows what else.
Half the mirrors are also cracked or completely broken and I've been told that management won't be replacing them anytime soon because of the cost.
Speaking of which, I've never worked out in a facility or chain where the guy behind at the desk is rude to me, nor will I grow accustomed to unprofessional treatment. Rick is only there during the day so until I switched my schedule from evening to noon, I had never encountered him before.
It's always the same person who is storming in the back admonishing people (where I do workout with free weights occasionally) or getting into spats over the telephone which I can hear from the cardio area. When I bought a drink from their cooler he threw the change on the desk instead of handing it back to me. I have heard people complain about the management but didn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes.
One day a weight accidentally got stuck together and as it dropped and made a loud thud the manager was right there yelling at me to keep it down. That was my last encounter with him, and when I explained what happened, he threatened to revoke my membership without cause. So I quit instead and joined the gym across the street.
For those interested, PF does not offer ANY classes or day care like they used to when it was Olympus.
While the gym is not often overly crowded, a lot of equipment was moved out and there are quite a few broken machines on the floor.
No towel service either, very basic. Bathrooms are in ok shape but still need work.
