Pros: Multi-surface cleaner. Works on heavy dust.
Cons: Not a very green product(not re-useable).
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this to friends I have that feel they're too busy to live life! But not to those friends I have that are eco-friendly or poor!

| swelan's Full Review: Pledge Duster Plus |
I live in a desert climate, so dusting is a top priority in our house. A couple days without dusting, and everything is covered in a nice fine grit of dust. It ruins electronics, and just makes the house look crummy. I've been using a static duster on a pole for the electronics, and a cream polish with a rag on the wood for years. Pain in the neck? Yep!
MY FIRST DAY...
I got this product free from a promotional offer from Bzzagent.com, seeing as I'm a Bzz Agent! The box has a wand, two dusters, and an .8 oz of Multi-Surface Spray. This box retails from $3.75 - $5, depending on where you get it. The handle has a little hole to hang it by. The box says this product is for cleaning blinds, knickknacks, electronics, metal and wood, and that it's an allergen trapper.
It's in a small lime and yellow box. I took it out. The spray fits into a compartment in the bottom of the handle, and a duster slides onto 2 prongs to hold it in place. I fluffed up the soft duster, and sprayed the spray onto it, as I'm a little leery at firs of using new products directly on the surface of my furniture.
I dusted down my entertainment center, which was quite dusty. It had been about two weeks since I had dusted it. Eek! I saw a wee bit of dust go flying, but less than I expected. After all, this is the desert, a hard job for a little duster to handle! I got all the nooks and crannies, and wiped around the vents in the stereo and tv. The decently long handle makes it easy to get in far places, and you can bend it to go around corners. By this point, the duster was already brown. It's kind of fun though. You might be able to get your kids to do it. Ok, maybe. I continued onto the blinds, and then the duster was REALLY brown. Already time for duster 2?
DAY TWO...
So, I took the dirty duster outside, and gave it a good shake. Nothing but a few stray strands of dog hair came off. Very impressive, considering how brown the duster was!
But, it was time for duster number 2. That was quick. I sprayed more spray onto the duster and did the furniture and windowsills in the den. I sprayed the spray directly onto the black satellite box, and got some serious streakage. Perhaps I used too much, but it was only one squirt. It seems like it would definitely streak on metal this way, but I didn't try it on any. Oops! The box says not to spray the product directly on "glass, mirrors, and electronics (such as TV screens). But my satellite box is plastic. It definitely seems to be more effective anyway when sprayed onto the duster.
My second room was done, on my second day, as was the second duster. This time I decided to wring the duster out with my dry hands, and bang it against the side of the house. A fair deal of filthiness came off, hopefully enough to give me another room's use out of it.
WHAT A WASTE, BUT...
Well, it's time for the good, and the bad.
The good:
It's kind of fun, for dusting. Easy to use. Doesn't snag on anything. Refills are fairly cheap at about $5 for a box. According to the promotional info in the offer I got, the Pledge Duster outdoes the Swiffer duster! Useable on many surfaces, which cuts down slightly on time. I don't have to switch products in different parts of the house.
The bad:
I like to be eco-friendly. I'm not super strict about it, but I like to do it when I can. I grew up with things get washed and re-used, not tossed into a landfill. The slew of new disposable products that have come out in the last 10 years is a little dis-heartening. I'm sure the spray is loaded with chemicals, but what bugs me more is the short life of the duster. The instructions say it's not washable, even though it seems to be made out of cotton - though I can't for sure tell what it's made from. The box also says not to use the duster with water, or other cleaning products. I would give these a 5 if the dusters were re-useable. Of course, that would cut down on the profits for Pledge a lot. In my opinion, sacrificing the environment for convenience is not always worth it. Also, the refills can really add up and I'm on a budget. But, if you're looking for easy, here it is!
