I'm kind of late reading this essay but glad I did. Your mom sounds like a wonderful person and it is so nice that the two of you have a great relationship.
My mother made our clothes when we were small too. I also had 2 sisters - they are both older than me. Mom made them matching clothes and then saved them until I grew into them. So I ended up with 2 of each dress.
I think it is sweet that your mom gives you encouraging words about having fun with your sons.
I enjoyed reading your tribute to your mom.

Sounds like you're a lucky woman, Gael, to have such a wonderful Mom and to be blessed with her ongoing friendship still!
My Mom also had a hard job raising four of us, but had NO help from our Dad for most of that journey. We were 3 girls and 1 boy; I'm the oldest. Something in common, eh?
Thanks for sharing this loving tribute to your wonderful Mom! I know you had a great example to pattern yourself after!

Gael, this was just so great to read, but I am sorry that I am reading it late. Your mother sounds just perfect...like my own. She also sounds as if she is still going strong, unlike my mother. I know that I don't have to tell you to cherish these years.

It;'s funny too about my Mom never being idle. If you ask her where something is, for example, she'll stop what she's doing and get it for you. Isn't that sweet? My grandma used to do that too!

This is a lovely tribute to your Mom and I am blessed to have read it. Your Mom and my Mom are a lot alike, in that they "can't sit still." My Mom is constantly doing something - anything - to stay busy and that also includes crocheting. We all have huge, beautiful, multiple afghans that she has lovingly made for us, and I know that they are very cherished.

What a beautiful tribute to you Mom. My mother cannot sit still either always on the go she's my best friend along with my grandmother who is like my Mom too.
Funny My Mom went and finsed her degree when I was in highscool and went along and got her masters as well.
Then I have my grandmother who like your Mom is was the sewer I had more outfits then I can't even remember I was the only child so I didn't have to look like the others.
My favorite outfit I can still remember was the bazooka bubble gum outfit pants and a shirt I thought I was the cat's meow LOL. Looking back now I can't even beleive I dressed like that. :O
So many great memories.
