I have been a member of BMG for more than 7 years now, and I still find this club to be an excellent way for me to get the music I want at the price I like.
In all the years I have been a member I have only bought about five cds at full price, which is now at about 18 dollars. I have; however, received lots of free cds, and lots of very cheap cds as well.
What I have done is that I have only replied to the best featured selections where they have buy 1 get 3 or 4 cds free. I have only done this, if I really wanted to purchase this cd, and I have often gotten great birthday gifts for friends and family this way.
The shipping cost is 2$ something per cd, but that is not a bad deal at all, and it definitely beats the prices that you find at the stores.
I have had one problem, where I was living overseas and I guess I had missed a no thank you reply to two featured selections. My mother-in-law had returned the cds without charge, but this was not registered on my account. After an email to the Customer Service department, they began working on clearing the issue, and a few emails back and forth and the problem was solved and my account was cleared.
I am not a great fan of leaving my credit info with any outside party, so I always get the bill and pay with check or money order. This works perfectly for me, and I think it gives less hassle, when they cannot automatically register payments for your featured selection at your credit card.
After two years of not purchasing anything (living overseas), I recently cashed in my music points or 3 Free cds, I paid about 21 dollars in shipping and handling, which when you do the math adds up to 2 dollars 33 cents per cd. I consider this to be a great deal.
No matter what, the important thing about BMG is that you need to respond and decline those featured selection offers. Just reply to the email, as soon as you see it in your in box, do not postpone it because you will just forget about it. Keep the decline emails in a separate folder and you will have no customer service issues.
