Pros: Very little violence, lots of imagination and special effects, great acting by the 2 children
Cons: a bit scary for kids in a few parts, but overall not bad at all.
The Bottom Line: I think that any family would enjoy watching this creative and imaginative movie. Parents and children alike will enjoy it together and can talk about it afterwards.

We went to a sneak preview of The Last Mimzy today, it is not scheduled to come out for about another week. I took my 4 boys ages 2,5,8 and 10. My husband also came along. Our entire family loved it!!! There is plenty to keep kids interested as well as the adults.
The story has a lot of imagination and science fiction involved in it. Two children find a mysterious box on the beach and they realize that it the box has special powers. They spend the next few weeks enjoying the items they find in the box, including a bunny rabbit stuffed animal who can secretly talk to them.
There were a few scenes that were quite scary. My 5 year old is still a little freaked out about one of the scenes. I do think this is a wonderful movie for the over 6 year old families. My 2 year old did love most of it, and the scary parts were over his head.
I think this movie will be loved by any child or adult who has a good imagination. It leaves you thinking if it could possibly happen and what the future may hold.
Overall, our family gives it 4.5 stars out of 5.
