::Insomniac: Chapter 4.5: The Lie::

The Bottom Line Please rate and comment!
This is part of the definitive version of my work: "Insomniac". After a lot of thought and criticism amongst my english teacher, I realized that I had a problem; that problem was that I didn't have a problem in the story, at least not one that made sense. In chapter 5, Kara walks off with Steve, but we don't know why, well, I found a great way to explain all of this without changing up so much of the story. Chapter 4.5 is a supplemental chapter but it fits in the story well. Please note that small changes will be coming to chapters 5 and 6. Nothing major, but it makes the story come together more complete. And as always, don't read this installment unless you have read up to chapter 5 of my story already. Once again, I know this chapter is a little too late, but it makes the story flow through more smooth.

The next morning at school, Tre inquired about last night’s meeting at the lockers. I was ready for any questions he had, and for once, I was the one giving out juicy facts.
“So what’d you guys do?” Tre asked
This only amused me. Besides, I remember being him when I was the one asking questions of late night affairs. For once in my life, Tre wanted to know what I did and it couldn’t have felt better.
“Well, we went to the park, ya know, nothing spectacular…..but…” I replied, but Tre wanted to hear more, I didn’t want to lie about what went on, maybe Kara wanted to keep what happened secret. In any case, I wanted to live up to what Tre made me out to be. For the first time in my life, I did something that wasn’t lame, and I wanted to tell this to Tre; for respect? Well, I guess that could have been why, but, mainly I needed to tell someone about what happened.
“Well?” Tre asked, he just knew I had something on my mind that I needed to get out.
“Ok, it was amazing Tre. She was feeling upset because Steve left her in tears, so we walked over to the park…..”
Well, I would later find out that Steve heard this entire conversation, starting from this last line; I guess when he hears the name “Steve”, his ego cranks up and his hearing is made acute. But, I found this out after I continued to talk.
“Tre, I just stared at her after we got out of the pool and our eyes locked, that’s when I kissed her” I proudly proclaimed. God, I was bleeding through my teeth and if you have been paying attention, I never kissed her. But once you start lying, you just can’t stop.
“Wait, you kissed her? D-mn you’re good. See, I knew you had it in ya” Tre responded enthusiastically. I think that finally I had a bulk of his respect. “Hey, I gotta go, I might actually go to class today ya know?”
“Yea? I guess there are firsts for everything” I stated
“Yea, first you become a chick magnet and now I’m gonna learn…..odd, but I like it! Later man” Tre concluded
“Later” I said
The thing that still gets me is why Steve never tried to beat the living snot out of me right then and there. Wait a second, “snot”? Well, we’ve got to keep it G-rated for the kids.
My guess is that he figures if I know that he overheard me that I would run to Kara and explain to her what happened. For once, Steve made a smart move, but in the long run, becomes a problem for me. This was not going to be a good day for me by any means.
