Decent selection, good prices, free delivery if you live in the Chicago area

At the end of July I came upon the realization that my window air conditioner had finally bit the dust so I needed to buy a new one. Now, finding a window air conditioner larger that 10,000 BTU at the end of July, when it is nearly 100 degrees in Chicago, is no easy feat! I looked in all the usual locations: Best Buy, Sears, Circuit City, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes, Froogle etc but was unable to find a quality unit for a good price but then I looked at Abt Electronics. Abt had a decent selection of window units (especially unlike Sears who only carries their own brand) and pretty good prices and they offered free delivery if you lived in the Chicago area (which was a huge plus since I have no car and use public transit).
The website was very easy to use and I ordered my window unit without any issue. I called a little later the same day I ordered the unit so I could schedule delivery (hey - it was hot and I wanted that thing as quick as possible!). At first they could not find my order so I was transferred to the online people so they could track it down. They needed my order or confirmation number to find the order (I just chalked this up to calling within about 6 hours of making the order online) and then they scheduled the delivery within that same week. The folks on the phone were very pleasant and easy to deal with.
The time of the delivery was not to be scheduled until the morning of the delivery so I had to take the day off work, since I had no idea what time the people would actually be there. The delivery people called at 7:00am the day the unit was to be delivered and they said they would be there between 11:00am and 2:00pm. I really hate such huge time frames but what are you gonna do with free delivery?! So at 10:45am I had a call on my machine (I was out for a walk) from the delivery guys saying they were on their way. At 11:00am I received another call from them telling me they were there. I was glad to have such prompt delivery. The men brought the air conditioner box into my home and left it exactly where I asked. It was a quick delivery so nothing special to report there.
Overall my experience with Abt was wonderful!
