Pros: Decent Background Graphics, Good Move Selection, Girls in Skimpy Clothing
Cons: Too repetitive, Gets boring quickly, Violent, a Bit choppy during fights
The Bottom Line: A decent game you might enjoy for an hour or two before you move to something else, I can’t see anyone playing this any longer than I did.

| romasuave's Full Review: Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes The Neighborhood ... |
The world of video fighting game is saturated with titles that aim to capture our interest and awe, this makes it difficult for any game to build a fan base and in turn make it a success. Backyard Wrestling 2 is no exception as it falls into that unfortunate category, another fighting game that loses your interest almost as soon as you start playing it.
The interface is similar to many other fighting games, whether wrestling or boxing or combat games. It is divided into 2 modes of play (yes, only 2) being career mode and exhibition mode. In career mode you can take a wrestler, either one of the nearly 2 dozen characters in the game or several that you create, and fight matches against other wrestlers to earn money and move up the ranks. Exhibition mode is just that, a single game pitting your wrestler against another in a game you can either replay or move to another character to battle against.
The preset characters in the game comprise of mostly male fighters, including fighters such as Mad Man Pondo, Vic Grimes, Vampiro, Sick Nick Mondo, and Ruckus, most of them look like punk rock grungy males straight from a skateboarding session, and most are there to inflict as much pain and mess as possible. For the salivating teenage boys there are around 5 female characters including adult film stars Sunrise Adams and Tera Patrick fighting in extremely skimpy clothes. As with many games you can customize your own wrestler, assign a name, a face type, physique, accessories and custom moves.
The graphics in the game are somewhat decent but not too jaw dropping, the background landscapes and setting are more so realistic than the character design itself. If you were to compare lets say EAs Fight Night Round 2s lifelike and incredible character design, showing realistic muscle and facial definition, this game has less of that definition and more of a generic cartoonish feel to it. The character movement is pretty fluid but it is choppy at times especially when punches, kicks and items are being used to hurt the opponent, case in point, there is a chainsaw weapon that penetrates the opponent, the blade is seen poking in and out through the side as opposed to being hidden by the opponents body.
The music is not one to my liking, a mix of hardcore electronica sounds and extreme heavy metal you would like if youre into x-games type music, it was a bit extreme for me but I suppose is is fitting to the genre and style of the game.
The Things I liked
In addition to the decent graphical interface, I enjoyed the plethora of moves you could choose from and the damage they create. Anywhere from body slams to suplexes to piledrivers, almost every conceivable wrestling move is being applied here and its fun while you play to try different combinations. I like the fact you could use any objects as weapons, from cinder blocks to poles to chainsaws, anything is a potent weapon here. I liked the various locations you could fight in, the trailer park, the pool, the office, the restaurant all had different items and obstacles to use and avoid.
The Things I Disliked
This game got boring rather quickly for me primarily because it is so easy to master and there is no real purpose, the career mode is pretty lame and not exciting at all and there are only 2 game modes which is not up to snuff in my book. The violence is overbearing somewhat for younger players although the lack of realism makes it a bit more subdued in the game, nonetheless there is blood, extreme violence and sexual innuendoes front he female characters who are dressed in very skimpy outfits showing their silicone masterpieces and use grinding moves on their opponent before they attack. Although there are many moves to choose from, once you use them all pretty quickly you are bored, there are no punch kick combinations and there are a couple of buttons that have no purpose in the game.
