After some careful research, I was determined that the S-10 was the perfect choice for our new home's media room. It was down to this and an SVS model. When I found out that Vann's was closing out the Mirage stock for them because Mirage was discontinuing this line, I jumped at the price -- hundreds off!
This puppy goes loooooooow -- 21Mhz is almost unheard of for a unit this size. And 200 RATED watts and 2 downward firing ports too! It was factory-packed extremely well and the setup was a complete breeze -- hook up the RCA cable, plug it in, set my Denon 2805 to use it and adjust the crossover and go!
And Vann's free shipping & service was great too -- 7 days total from online order to doorstep, weekend included!
I was so impressed it all that I just ordered some Omnisats to upgrade the 'other sides' of the system!
There is one thing that Vann's still needs to tweak in order to make it ideal: their internal tracking number never seems to work in bringing up where the order is in their pipeline. Plus, once you call with that number, the CSR cannot tell either.
Now, you do eventually get a pre-ship email with a FedEx Ground locator and link, but Vann's should not send you email with their internal number and have a place on their website to use it if all they ever say upon doing so is "we do not know, please call to find out."
Thus, in the interim, it would be really nice to know what's going on after they charge your card.
