Pros: Attractive, functional, and interesting! Sounds like the perfect mate, no?
Cons: What's up with only six shots glasses?
The Bottom Line: The Sur La Table Vodka Shot Set is an instant party favorite! Also great for those quiet, more "intimate" gatherings, when availability and convenience are of the essence!

| mothermeatloaf's Full Review: Sur La Table Vodka Shot Set - 7-Piece set |
NOTE: The model I own has Greek-key gold-leaf gilding around the lip of the ice bucket - for what that's worth in the way of information. It sure looks classy!
I generally shy away from clear spirits in favor of beer or, more frequently, my amber Lord: scotch.
Clear spirits, vodka specifically, were ofttimes regarded as "mixable."
At a party I recently attended, where the only beers were lite (horrors!), and there was nary a decent scotch, whisky, or bourbon within shouting distance, I took the recommendation of my brother to try vanilla vodka and Sprite, of all things!
Half-a-fifth later, I decided to try the vodka without the cloyingly sweet, gas-inspiring mixer. It was ice-cold Grey Goose La Vanille, and it was divine.
The following weekend, while shopping at Ross, I espied the Sur La Table Vodka Shot Set and purchased it straightaway!
Made of weighty glass, the set is beautiful in its functional simplicity. The are no smart corners. Both the ice bucket and shot glasses sport smooth curves. When duly frosted, I dare say the entire set looks cold and enticing, like an ice sculpture.
Included in the set are the 5.5-inch, slightly tulip-lipped ice bucket and six (6) tall, two-ounce shot glasses, which bring to mind the shape of small, single-flower vases.
I've seen folks place a layer of ice at the bottom of the bucket and rest the shot glasses atop the frigid bed, but what seems to be more effective is placing the filled glasses in the bucket first, then pouring the ice in afterward. Any vodka drinker will tell you that the colder the spirit is, the better the drinking! I found the vodka cools more quickly and more thoroughly this way.
I've used the set for mixed shots also, such as kamikazes, appletini shooters, lion tamers, and the like to rave reviews. It's best to have a pitcher of the goods on hand for quick and easy refills after a quick rinse of the shot glasses in the sink.
The entire set is dishwasher safe and makes for an exquisite center piece for a bar or bistro table. My wife has even filled the ice bucket with colored glass marbles, each shot glass sporting fresh-cut flowers. Against the white linen table cover, it looked smashing.
It also gave me an excellent excuse to 1) go to Ross and 2) buy another Sur La Table Vodka Shot Set!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I hear a grey goose honking for my attention!
Thanks for spending some time with your Mother!
