| soldfromwi's Full Review: Motorola V551 Cellular Phone |
Our T-Mobile contract was up and we DESPERATELY wanted to get away from them as fast as possible! So we headed out in searched of the best deal...
We settled on Cingular and a great phone deal that Best Buy was running. Buy the v551 for $79.99 and get the v220 free. Well hubby took the v551 and I ended up with the v220. After 2 weeks of nothing but problems I ended up trading in my v220 for the v551.
Wow what a difference! The v220 is just a cheap and crappy version of the v551. The v551 is Bluetooth compatible, has a larger and clearer screen, and all the features actually work! The v220 would not ring have of the time when a call was incoming and I could not get the voice dialing to record.
The v551 is a bit more complicated then my old Nokia 3565. The features are set up in a user un-friendly matter, but most features can be changed to fit the user. I liked that I could change the nine main menu "buttons" into the order that I wanted them. I also like that you can turn down the brightness of the screen so that if you are playing games in dark, like on a long car ride, you can dim the screen so that it is not so bright.
The v220 and v551 cameras seem to be the same quality, but the v551 has video capability. I have not tried the video capture as of yet, but I like that I have that ability. I still have yet to figure out how to download or email my pictures on the v551. I am told I need some kind of data cable for the download. As for the email I have tried and it so far has not worked...
After using the v220 for 2 weeks and then using the v551, I have found that the v551 has clearer calls, better screen visibility, but shorter battery life. I have found that I have to charge my v551 every evening, especially if I have played any games. I find that inconvenient, but I can live with that as long as I have clear calls.
My v551 has 3 or 4 bars in my house and at my Mom's with my old Nokia I had 1 or less bars and got no signal at my Mom's house! So whether the phone is the source of better signals or the Cingular service I am just happy to be able to use my phone!
