| metalgear2's Full Review: LG VX7000 |
I purchased this phone in November of 2004 and it is still running just fine now. This was the very first cell phone I ever purchased but I bought it with my family and we got 3 different cell phones so I compared it to them.
Service:
Verizon Wireless is or was the top contender in the wireless department. It offers the best reception where other providers have none, however this all comes with a larger price tag. In my opinion Verizon is definitely worth the money as long as you purchase the right plans that suite your needs, otherwise go with something cheaper.
Phone:
The Overall Build quality of the phone is very nice. The phone feels sturdy with:
- a very large display
- incredible camera with a decent flash
- Buttons and backlights are nicely lit and keypad is very nicely laid out.
- Many useful functions, calendar, calculator, alarm clock, world clock, tip calculator, notepad, phonebook
- of all the funcitons i am especially fond of the photo picture ID. This neat feature allows you to set up a certain picture that will be displayed when a certain number in your phone book calls you. Most other camera phones have this but this camera has a very large memory capacity.
Memory:
Has about 4MB of space for downloads.
still have no idea how many songs it can hold
no idea how many pictures or movie clips it can hold. (Im at around 200 pictures and 14 movies)
Text messaging inbox can hold about 100 text messages or somewhere near 60 with at least 15 of them being picture messages.
Messaging:
Text messaging, Picture (Pix) messaging and Movie (Flix) messaging are all very usefull and fun. Sending a message depends on how good of a reception you have but maximum reception you can send a text message in about 3 or 4 seconds, Pix message in around 25-35 seconds and same for Flix.
However once your reception starts to drop you can wait for almost a minute or more to send the message... this is quite annoying since u have to keep the phone open in order to send.
Sound Quality:
The LG VX7000 has a much better sound to it then other phones such as the Samsung A670c, Ringtones sound much better on it than on most other sub $200 phones. The Earpiece volume and ringer volume can all be set to your liking.
The only thing the VX7000 lacks is the speakerphone function, which comes in handy while driving, but you can alway use a headset.
If there is any other phone that I would replace this one for it would be the newer LG VX8000 which has a 1Megapixel camera instead of the 7000's VGA camera and the 8000 can also be used with Verizon's new service VCAST where they send you movie clips of shows and newsreports right to your phone.
