Pros: Vehicle fits nice,good mileage
Cons: Lag in fast acceleration from stopped or low speed conditions. Poor laser cruise control tuning.
The Bottom Line: Toyota makes an almost excellent vehicle, but the Run-Flat tires I would think twice about.

| hottrodd's Full Review: 2004 Toyota Sienna AWD |
Having mixed emotions moving from our 2001 Tahoe to the 2004 Sienna XLE AWD. We are snowbirds traveling between northern and southwestern states and as such spend a lot of time riding. The Tahoe rode softer and felt heaver while the Sienna rides stiffer and the run-flat tires run hard and noisy with seemly no give. Also I understand they are expensive and need special equipment to replace. This model being Sienna's flag ship I can't believe a full power adjustable front passenger seat is not offered. I love the Nav system but the manual needs to be rewritten from the viewpoint of person that has never been near a computer. The fly-by-wire, no physical connection between the accelerator and fuel control unit needs big refinement especially from stopped and low speed quick acceleration conditions, to much lag. The laser cruise control is a good idea but needs tuning or learning on the part of the driver. After it, the laser, reacts to a slower vehicle and you move over to a open lane or the other vehicle turns off the Sienna will kick down into passing mode to resume preset cruising speed. Would be better if it accelerated back to speed more slowly or just held at that speed and you would have to reset it. A/C compressor engages hard and noisy most noticeably when sitting still.
The Sienna has 14,800 some miles on it and has been serviced per scheduled and as of this writing gets 22-23 mpg highway. The Toyota dealer has been excellent. I had a good experience with a new 84 Camery so this is not my first Toyota vehicle.
