| samarayum's Full Review: VERA BRADLEY HANDBAG |
My mom actually was the one who got me hooked on these bags. Being an avid quilter and belonging to quilting clubs, her and her quilting friends were big fans of these fabric quilted bags, since they were right up their alley.
My mom got her first Vera bag over 3 years ago and immediately fell in love. At first I didnt understand the big significance of Vera as so coyly referred to by her quilting friends. Then one Christmas to my surprise my mom got me my very own Vera purse.
Being a so-called purse snob ( I love to have many purses) I was impressed with this quilted hobo bag. Since that time I have received another one, the wallet and make up bag. Both of which are the bee line of fabric. I am also looking forward to getting one of the new line of a fabrics.
These bags are very durable! Comfortable to wear on the shoulder since they are made of fabric. They also hold a lot of stuff, as you know us purse toters love to jam them full of all our necessary items.
The two that I have zipper closures which work fabulously when youre on vacation or a crowded area where you dont people to easily access the contents of your bag.
These bags are also easily cleaned by simply taking out the card board bottom and putting them in the washing machine, a plus for those who loves bags and have a difficult time cleaning others. Obviously because they are made of quilted fabric when they get wet they absorb all the liquid. So they aren't that good in rainy weather.
As with any fashion accessory they change with the season. The Vera Bradley line of bags come in seasonal fabrics many times a floral pattern or paisley prints. They also come in blacks, blues, reds, pastels, all depending on the seasons.
Although a little on the expensive side they are way worth it for the durability and life span of the bags themselves. I've seen many knock off Vera type bags but they do not do justice to the original and are not the same quality as the original either.
They also come in many different varieties: Hobo Style, The Betty which is a little purse with a double strap, bucket style in many sizes, duffel type bags, make up cases, eye glass cases, wallets, and even now a watch! Pretty much any accessory you could think of is available. The prices for a small handbag range from about $25 to upwards $110 for duffel bags. The accessories range in varying price too, a small two fold wallet will cost about $20. Prices are also varying on where you purchase your Vera, I'm sure some places have more of a mark up then others. There are only certain retailers that are allowed to carry the Vera bag, so if you are in the market for one make sure you find a reputable retailer. Often times they end up being little mom and pop type stores.
