| mcmaster's Full Review: Epson Stylus C66 Inkjet Printer |
I have been working with a new company, when I can. The company manufactures fishing products. I needed to set up a printer and phone for starters. If I were home, I would already have all of these things at my disposal. I am healing up in an Army medical hold unit, so I needed to purchase a few things to get this job started. The Epson Stylus® C66 Inkjet Printer was in my price range. I dont need an expensive printer to print sales letters. I was initially looking for a Hewitt Packard printer. I have always had good luck with HP products. The only printers that our main PX had on hand, under $100 were two models of Epson Stylus® Printers. I remembered reading a review here at Epinions that gave this brand high marks.
So I decided to give this printer a shot. After I got it back to my room and set it up, there was no printer cable. This chapped my butt to no end! I had even looked on the box for anything saying that I needed extra things. I headed back to the PX for a USB cable, which I needed to run the printer. An hour later, I was able to get the printer up and running. Its a good thing that I dont have anything better to do than run around like an idiot, looking for USB cables. Its no wonder people get started on Prozac and Rogaine!
Anyways, the printer fired right up. I loaded the software and it installed without a hitch.
I ran a test print and it worked great. The text was picture perfect and the color looked high quality to me. I was and still am quite happy with the Epson Stylus® C66 Inkjet Printer.

Final Thoughts
A big downside to this printer, is it's size. The thing is large for a printer. It takes up the entire top of a small dresser. It is about 18 inches, by 15 inches and a good 14 inches high, It is not a space saver, at all. This particular model specializes in printing photographs. The software that comes with the Epson Stylus® C66 Inkjet Printer, has the Film Factory. It also comes with a pack of 20, 4x6 blank, glossy photo papers. I am not much of a film / photo person, but I tried to see if I could run the program and print a 4x6 photo of my daughter. I was not impressed. The photo that the printer shot out was fuzzy. I would not frame it. On the other hand, the printer works very well for my flyers, letters and brochures. I feel that I got a great deal for this printer at just $69.00. I also like the fact that I am able to purchase one of the four colors that it uses. I am sure that I will use a lot of black ink. So Ill buy two cartridges ahead of time and one of the yellow, blue and red. I think every one of these companies charge too much for their ink cartridges and Epson is no exception. They charge $24.00 for a black in cartridge and 13.00 for each colored ink cartridge. All and all the machine does exactly what I purchased it to do. I am happy with it for the price that I paid. I would have rated them higher, had they included a USB cable and the photo's were a higher quality. I give the Epson Stylus® C66 Inkjet Printer three of five stars.
