| LILvoyce's Full Review: Fantastik Orange Action Cleaning Wipes |
Call me strange if you may. But sheesh, every time I purchase paper toweling it seems to be gone when I get around to doing my cleaning! I buy it and buy it, and between my son and his little friends we must go through a roll every couple of days. I love to use paper toweling over any type of cleaning clothes, because I can just toss them when I am done. To me it seems more sanitary as well.
I bought theFantastik Orange Action Wipes in hopes of curing my paper towel shortage problems. I also purchased this product because I found it at my local Winn Dixie store on sale for half price. I paid $1.49 for these wipes. For the most part I am thrifty. I never would have tried them at almost $3 for 30. Call me cheap if you must. In my opinion, prior to purchasing these wipes, I had the idea that I am able to save money by just purchasing a cleaner along with some paper towels.
What are they?
Fantastik Orange Action Wipes are found in your cleaning section of your grocery store. They come in a very cheaply made orange plastic bag with a peel and reseal tab.
You get 30 Pre-moistened Wipes which measure 7 In x 10 In. The wipes are white in color and sort of resemble a diaper wipe.
Directions:
Pull wipe from pouch and use to clean hard surfaces such as countertops, microwaves, stoves, sinks, toilets, bathtubs, and chrome fixtures.
Open pouch by pealing back seal, use wipes until they get dirty or dries out, then toss.
Cautions:
Don't flush these because they are not water-soluble. Don't use with other household cleaners, unplug products before cleaning them. DO NOT USE FOR PERSONAL HYGIENE, OR AS A BABY WIPE!!
I can't imagine someone using these for a baby wipe!!
FOR USE ON:
appliances
microwave ovens
stainless steel
chrome
sinks
cabinets
ceramic tiles
floors
basins
tubs
sinks
showers
fiberglass
porcelain surfaces
chrome fixtures
patio furniture
bicycles
tires
tools
Spot test for all other surfaces.
My Experience
I was not pleased with the packaging of this product. If someone is going to spend $3 on a package of moistened towels I expect them to be in a better type of packaging. When you pull the tab off of the package after opening it a few times It is not able to reseal properly. I ended up using a plastic bag with a zip seal on it. I feel that this product would be so much better off with a zip seal. Why should I have to provide an additional cover for this product?
When I first opened the package and was going around cleaning, I noticed that these pre-moistened towels seemed a bit dry. I was tempted to add a bit of water to the package but decided not to. I did not want it to weaken the power of it's cleaning ability.
I started off in the kitchen. After reading the package I decided to actually try these wipes on my stove. I was not impressed really. If your stove is really clean to begin with and you happen to spill something you can wipe it up right away with one of these. Normally when I spill things however, I am in the middle of cooking and my stove, burners, are going full force. I notice it most of the time after the fact. I tried wiping down the stove after I cooked and these wipes really did not have much power.
I would consider using them for small spatters on the floor or something like that. I ended up using several on my countertops. I felt that I would have been better off using a dishcloth. I need a bit more moisture when I clean!
Tubs? Forget it. Not enough moisture. Not enough cleaning action. Not enough product on the towels. I have used them in the to wipe off the seat of the toilet after my little nephew used the bathroom.
I did notice dirt on my wipes when rubbing them against the surfaces I was cleaning. The problem is that I had to use to many of them just to clean up a small area. I also had to end up using more elbow power to scrub. There just isn't enough cleaning action.
Lastly, I sometimes like to spray my surfaces down and let the product work into the dirt. I can't do that with these wipes.
I gave up on these after these few experiences.
Scent
This happens to be about the only good thing that I really liked about this product. I am actually starting to get tired of all of the orange smelling products out now. Companies in my opinion tend to overkill a good thing. I mean after using all the floor cleaners, hand soaps, furniture polish, and everything else out there that smells like an orange, I was kind of not looking forward to smelling this product. My hub even came home with the orange tooth paste!
I took the plunge and smelled this product. Then I had said, "Oh all right.. Just one more orange product and that is it!!" I was really impressed with the smell. It is not overly strong and isn't as annoying as some of the other orange products I have used.
Overall
Sorry S.C. Johnson. I normally love most of your products, but this one I will pass on. It is a weak product, with weak packaging. I did not get my money's worth out of this product (even on sale). It wasn't all that helpful. It ended up taking me longer to clean with this product compared to many other products I would have used.
