Pros: Cool look, supports all iPods, Easy to use, No battery
Cons: Not the best sound, easy to lose, drains iPod battery
The Bottom Line: I recommend the iTrip 'only' if it works the way it should. In most cases though, I recommend a tape adapter because of it's simplicity and cheaper cost.

| YodaX's Full Review: Griffin Technology ITRIP FM TRANSMITTER FOR NEW (4... |
The iTrip is an accessory for the iPod. It came out just a few months ago along with the release of the mini iPod. The idea of the iTrip is fantastic. The iTrip FM transmitter for the iPod can play your music through any FM radio in your car, at a party, wherever the mood strikes you while having a radio accessible.
How does it work?
It's actually pretty simple even for the technology "dummy." It simply plugs in to the top of the iPod. From there, you can choose any radio station on the dial to tune for the best performance possible. You do this by 'playing' special station codes directly from the iPod itself.
One of the pros of the iTrip is that it requires no batteries. It receives its tiny amount of power from the iPod. However, the iPods themselves have many battery problems, so this does not work for everyone. The iTrip claims it does not take much of the battery off the iPod, but I have found that it takes it's fair share.
The entire point of the iTrip was convenience at least from Griffin's point of view. (The manufacturer) One of the features of the iTrip is that it will automatically shut off after 60 seconds of silence. Are you sick and tired of not being able to show your friends your music? You might want to leave the headphones at home and grab an iTrip.
Facts:
The iTrip allows you to select from over 100 stations on which to broadcast. That means that you can find an open band, no matter how many radio stations are in your area. Now you can choose to use ANY station - not just the typical '4 stations' you might find on other transmitters. The iTrip currently supports radio stations from 87.7 - 107.9. It also allows you to connect to any radio from 10-30 feet, depending on the quality of the FM radio receiver.
I have used the iTrip for a little while, and personally I am not 100% happy with it. I have found that although the iTrip uses digital tuning instead of serial tuning. The product should not drift, but I have found it drifting on several occasions. I have also had many customer complaints regarding the iTrip.
In my opinion, the iTrip is a good product if it works. Unfortunately I have found that many of them have problems. I highly suggest a tape adapter. They are cheap, easy to use, and have good quality sound.
