The Bottom Line Will Epinions Survive?
Disclaimer there is some potential offensive language so read on with caution.
Question submitted to Epinions.com "Do you actually go after all abusers anymore?" The reply, to sum it up "No." So basically he who abuses most gets the last laugh and get all the cash and leaves everyone with door hitting you on the way out on your @ss because personally we do not see it worth the time or effort or money to exert control over the minor abuses.
Well, hmmm. The site is only giving people one cent per a hit and they want us to be the moderators of the entire site. Hello!!! I do not want to have to act as a Moderator nor do I wish to actively wish to pursue to continue service with this site for one penny a hit on a regular basis.
I can expect by dropping the shields down of regulating your own domain is a huge mistake and will probably soon regret doing such drastic measures.
I am not predicting an all out fold of Epinions.com but if this site stays on the same road I give Epinions less than a year before going bankrupt unless everyone at this site understands the importance of rating with justification other than to earn a d@mn penny.
Well, I hope there is a lot more people realizing that action needs to be taken when you see wrong being committed because if you do not take the time to report it no one else on the site will and no one @ Epinions will monitor the site on their day off or during their lunch break. Come on, be an active member and save the site to where you can enjoy Epinions for a few more years.

The Letter
Please use the tools provided to you to help us deal with abuse on the site. For example by rating the review, presumably Not Helpful, or blocking the member you will decrease the chances that others will read the review.
As Epinions has grown it has become harder and harder for Community Care to process all the abuse complaints. In an effort to deal with the most serious complaints quickly and efficiently we will be relying on the community even more heavily than we have before. We will no longer be
issuing tickets for Duplicate Reviews, Review Padding, or Referral Marketing. These three categories of abuse are actually not included in our User Agreement. They had become community standards which we had adopted and were acting upon.
We will continue to ticket and process abuse complaints for Multiple Accounts, Copyright Infringement, Spam and Illegal Content.
We are aware that this puts a lot of responsibility on our community, but the majority of this is already being done. Almost all of the reviews that receive a ticket are rated Not Helpful by the time the ticket is given. Thank you in advance for your support on this matter.

Some thoughts to Simmer On
Is there something wrong with letting a business be run by a bunch unregulated pupils - no. But not everyone is honest and the honest usually do not take a stand for fear of being removed for harassing the site. Do not be shy email the abuse center for any violation which they will prosecute because it is "Of Course Your Income Share Money" you are losing everytime an abuser steals money from Epinions.
