Drives nice- but BAD mechanics

Pros: Descent on gas for an SUV. Drives nice.

Cons: Small. Possibly has some mechanical issues.

The Bottom Line: I would recommend to do a lot of research before you buy. Also, do research on the dealership to see how they have handled customer service in the past.

hoppertoad04's Full Review: 2004 Ford Escape
When we first bought our Escape we really liked it for about 2 weeks. Then it started to have problems starting. The first time we thought it was just a fluke. Now about 1 year later and numerous trips to the garage it still has problems starting. It also would act like it was going to die at stop signs. First the Ford mechanics told us our problem was rare and they came right out and said they didn't think it was a problem until it happened to them. So after we made them tow it in a few times- they decided to start to find the problem. They have replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, throttle, and many many valves. Still the Escape won't start on occasion. We bought this SUV to have the 4 wheel drive in the winter. But mostly it was in the shop. We liked how it drove so much similar to a Ford Taurus. The wipers are VERY hard to figure out especially while driving. The back seat is small. The doors do not lock when you start to move. Not much storage. The way the sunroof closes makes you always wonder if it really did close. The seat belt reminder is so loud it drives you nutty!! All in all be sure you have a good warranty and a good Dealership to stand behind you.
