Why buy a British Classic? by isvikthere | Mar 29 '01 Great styling, stunning looks, distinctive exhaust notes, thrills and sensations, that is what the British motorcycles of the past were all about and they still possess all those qualities today.Return to opinion

Yes, it's weird how British cars AND motorcycles of the same era have similar characteristics. Jags, MGs, Mini Coopers and Triumph Cars all show the same diseases as the British motorcycles, troublesome electrics and problems with keeping the oil where it is supposed to be, INSIDE the engine or gearbox and not all over it. Of course when you think of it it is not that strange since they were all built using the same techniques and often they share electrical components (notably made by Lucas 'The Prince of Darkness'. Luckily they share the good things too, and that is mostly their looks and glorious exhaust notes.

I hadn't really given "Brit bikes" much thought, but, your epinion exudes passion. I once owned an MG (auto), &, it took some electrical wizards to keep it going.
Very nice article.
