I hate to shatter my freak-like image but I’m a hard-core baker. Cookies, pastries, biscotti, cakes, muffins, tarts, buns – I adore them all – making them as well as eating them! In order to be able to pull off something I like to call kitchen magic you need to have the right tools at your disposal. You can tackle this chore at retail stores but chances are you‘ll need to make more than a few trips to get everything you need or turn to the Wilton website – more to the point – Wilton’s Online Store. Unless there is some mega kitchen gadget store out there that my credit cards and I are unaware of – the Wilton site is probably the closest to ‘one stop shopping’ you’ll get when it comes to cake decorating, cookie cutters, bakeware and other related items. I’ve been a fan of Wilton products for a long time and when a holiday season rolls around, most of the kitchen gadgets I use carry the Wilton name. Why bother investing hours into decorating cookies, cakes and treats if you are going to use inferior or generic products? Well, at least that’s my thought on it.
Wilton Online Store
When you first arrive at the Wilton site you’ll need to look for the ‘online store’ link on the left hand side. Click on that and you’ll be taken to the retail section of the site. Don’t expect a lot of fancy flash imagining or plug in’s – the site is pretty basic in its design and lay out. There are sections and sun sections to browse with my most common being bakeware, cookie cutters, seasonal sections and of course the candy making section. Chances are if it carries the Wilton name and they are still making the product, you’ll be able to find it somewhere on the site. The search engine can be a little picky with returns however if you know the item number and type it n the box – you’ll get better results. The sections are pretty straightforward but if it’s your first time visiting the site it might take a little time to get used to how things are categorized. My best suggestion is to stick to what you see on the left side of the screen, when you click on a section you will get a few results [featured products] displayed on the middle of the screen but not many in most cases.
Products Offered
At the online store you’ll be able to find anything and everything Wilton. Until I started shopping at the site I was unaware that they carried non-bakeware items as well. The selection of baby photo frames and keepsake ornaments is only matched by their assortment of baby shower items. Ever try looking for miniature baby bottles and come up empty? Wilton’s got them! If cake molds are your thing – you won’t be disappointed at this site. They have everything from jelly roll pans to cookie sheets, spring-form pans to juvenile pans [fire trucks, sports, dinosaurs, castle and musical instruments]. In fact, there are so many different pans, molds and tins available that you might get lost in this section. I have several older Halloween individual cake pans that I’ve been trying to track down and so far they haven’t been listed at the site and I’m hoping that when it gets closer to Halloween they’ll be listing more items in this section. One of the nicest things about the site is even when Christmas or Halloween are several months away, there are still a lot of seasonal items listed at the site. Some of the sections you’ll find in this part of the online store include Easter, Christmas, Communion, Hanukkah and Valentine’s Day – and that’s just to name a few.
There’s also an extensive candy making section where you can purchase the candy melting discs, candy making tools and kits and molds for making filled chocolates. This is one of the smaller sections of the site but still a great resource for those that take pride in making their own chocolate treats. On of the things that I dislike about the site is the way some things are classified. If I were looking for the ghost candy form I’d more than likely go to the candy section first and look for the plastic form there – instead you’ll find this in the seasonal section under the candy heading. After a while you’ll get your footing at the site and be navigating like a pro – just don’t give up if your first few attempts at finding something come up empty.
Another one of my favorite section is the Theme Shop where you’ll be able to find cake molds, cake sprinkles, character cake toppers, cupcake holders, treat bags, icing kits and more. If you love Barbie, Scooby-Doo, Bob The Builder, Blue’s Clue’s or Winnie The Pooh – this is one part of the site that you need to check out before planning your next party! I never knew that some of these items existed until I started looking for a cake pan for my sons upcoming birthday [I guess that’s a heads up for the H & G Category Leads]. I’d never seen the Harry Potter cake mold until I hit this section of the site and for $10.99 I couldn’t pass it up. While I was at it I had to get the correct icing for the cake as well as some of the Harry Potter baking cups and sprinkles. It’s going to take me a while to get the cake to look as good as it does on the instruction sheet and at the site – but I’m determined to get it right!
As much as I hate to admit it, I tempted fate and went into the wedding section and I swear – in the distance – I heard the sound of rolling thunder. No, there’s no chance of me getting married any time soon but I did offer to help a few friends plan theirs.

Whenever I’ve needed help finding a product at the site or inquiring about one of the Halloween cake molds I’ve been trying to collect, the customer service team have always been more than helpful in answering any questions I had – regardless of how old the product was or is it was seasonal or not. If you have any questions about anything at the Wilton site or even a product you’ve seen at a retail store – chances are they’ll know all the details about it.
Outside The Store
The Wilton site offers you wealth of information about the products that they carry, instructions on how to make the great looking cakes and treats they feature at the site, recipes, wedding suggestions, kid related projects, party planning, seasonal events and more. Even if you aren’t an avid online shopper but enjoy baking, the Wilton site still has a lot to offer you. I’ve found so many great recipes at the site that I had to start printing them out and taping them up on the cabinet in the kitchen – I couldn’t keep up with all of the great recipes sent in by Wilton addicts and the ones that are added for the different holidays.
Shipping
Shipping fees aren’t outrageous at this site, most of the time my orders cost about $10.00 to ship and were in the $50.00 range. Shipping fees are calculated according to your total dollar amount and you are able to view your shipping fees before you confirm and pay for your order. Payment Options
Currently the Wilton Online Store only accepts MasterCard, Visa and Discover Card for purchases. If you wish to pay by check out money order you may want to call the toll free customer service number to see if payment arrangements can be made. I’ve used both MasterCard and Visa at the site and have never had any trouble with orders being processed, being billed an amount that was different from what was listed at the site or duplicate billings. I’ve never made a return to the site so I’m not sure how long it takes to get a credit but I would assume it would be within one or two billing cycles.
Return Policy
You have sixty days from the date that you receive your order to contact Wilton to arrange a return of an item. Unless it was a mix up on their part you will be responsible for shipping the item back to them and as usual, shipping fees are non-refundable unless the item was damaged or you receive and incorrect product. I’ve never had to return an item so I am not sure how quickly they process claims or post credits so if you have any experience with this, please feel free to leave a message in the comment section.
The Bottom Line
As a whole, the Wilton name means quality to me. When you go through the website you’ll be able to see photos of the products, get some background about them and check on the current prices. I’ve been to some large housewares and bakeware sections of stores but none of them even come close to what you can purchase through the website. I’ve always gotten quick deliveries on my orders, orders that were accurate and complete and a great warranty on the products I purchased. If you are a fan of Wilton products and have never stopped by the online store – you don’t know what you are missing.
