Yahoo mail is generally an excellent web-based email service. It is fast and has a very minimal design.
The feature which most clinches it for me is the ability to configure my POP email client (outlook, eudora, etc) to retrieve my Yahoo mail. This allows me to use my Yahoo account on my home computer while offline, and still have access to my mail while on the road, at a friend's house, or a cybercafe in Bolivia. As of this writing (14 December 1999) hotmail does not incorporate this feature.
The forwarding function (something else hotmail lacks) will be useful if and when I ever decide to start using something else.
My one quibble is that the Quota of 3 MB is too small. They have a service for a bigger quota, but at a price.
Update (August 11, 2000): The quota has been increased to 6mb (at least for me). While this is still too small, it's a step in the right direction.
