My Inspiron 7000 is exactly what I thought it would be, only with a few drawbacks. First it weighs about as much as my car. That is a sacrafice to be paid for having the extra large screen but it is very heave to carry around compared to others I have used.
Also my 7000 likes to freeze up on my constantly during use. It just freezes in the middle of what I am doing. Also every once in a while my mouse goes crazy and when I barely move it it goes all over the screen very fast and clicks on everything starting all sorts of programs.
On the lighter side my 7000 is very powerful compared to its competition. Mine has a 400mhz pentium II, with 128mb ram, and 3d accelerated graphics which is nice. I also love the removable combo DVD and disk drive. On the subject of DVD the movies play great. The screen is huge and the movies play with excellent quality. The DVD player reads very fast and plays games with exceptional speed and graphic quality.
The speakers dont play very well but if you hook up external speakers the sound quality is exceptional. The battery life seems to go on a lot longer than the manual says. Mine has been known to make the ride to the airport, wait in the airport, and make the long flight. That seems to be longer than the 3.5 hours the manual says.
Overall I would say if you believe yours wont mess up like mine, I would recommend it because it is very powerful, but expensive.
