Toyota Sienna AWD
by paulsepinions ,Dec 17 '03
Pros: Looks, feels, drives beautifully Cons: Developed problems within a few weeks of purchase
Just bought one...Really a nice van but, mine developed electrical problems. After sitting awhile, the battery drains and the vehicle sits as a $30,000+ pile of nice metal. Took it to a dealer who still can't seem to find the part to fix it (after a week). Hopefully, this isn't indicative of things to come with this van.

2004 awd sienna
by to764 ,Feb 03 '04
Pros: AWD
great options
privacy glass
power sliding passenger door
ratings
DVD with headphones
Cons: no spare (pending if this is a con)
gas mileage (trade off for the AWD)
So far so good purchased a 2004 Sienna AWD with the (CO LE 12 Package for $29,500 and the sale went smooth. I have always owned Toyota's so I am not expecting any problems.
I love the room and the feel of the vehicle. I am happy about the AWD and the ratings of this vehicle.
I hate the idea of no spare tire but am getting use to the idea of run flat tires. I get about 20 MPG so far city and highway driving.

Watch out for tires and battery!!
by panther99 ,Jan 25 '05
Pros: Looks. Rides nice, cargo space, interior space. Gas mileage. Cons: Tires, tires, tires! Battery. Sliding doors freeze shut when cold (20 degrees).
Bought our 2004 LE AWD Sienna in October 2003 (it's now January 2005). PROBLEMS: (1) Battery has been dead three times for no apparent reason (no lights left on, doors open, etc.) (2) Driving down road at, thankfully, only 30 miles per hour when van started beeping and shaking horribly, lost all traction and was skidding. Had to tow it to the dealer. Turns out it was a "sensor" related to traction. Scary..., if I had been going any faster I hate to think of what could have happened. (3) TIRES, ughhh. Just had to replace tires at 17,000 miles. Real problem with the run flat tires (cost and short life) and not being able to carry a spare unless you use the cargo space and don't plan to put the third row seats down. Luckily, our dealer has been fairly responsive but we worry about future problems and the future cost of replacement tires. Also have had to replace molding around doors. Have loved Toyota's until now.

Watchout for the Tires
by smeeholl ,Oct 13 '04
Pros: Just as pictured. Roomy. Cons: Poor tires!
Rides nice. Gas mileage is good. The problem is the run flat tires. As of Oct. 13, 2004, there were only 4 tires in the U.S. for replacements. I hope you don't have a flat like I did. This was poor planning on the part of either Toyota or Dunlop. Either way it is the customer who pays the price. Next time I buy a car I will check the availability of the tires. I have 20,000 miles on my van and have to replace all four at a cost of $265 a Tire. Unfortunately, I have to wait until Dunlop goes back into production of the tires. I have already waited over a month. They tell me it should only be a few more weeks. Mean while, I am driving on tires that have worn through to the belts.

Sienna Check Engine Light Problem
by njmk ,Sep 29 '04
Pros: Good ride, nice vehicle. Cons: Completely unreliable and terrible customer support.
We love this car, but have had it in the dealer a total of six times for over 30 days in the first year of ownership. The check engine light keeps coming on. 2gas tanks, 2 charcoal filters and a new computer chip later and no luck. Toyota says I have to file under the lemon law or just keep bringing it back. On top of that, the service group is the worst I have ever experienced - not having parts ordered, holding the car for two days because they didn't have the time to road test the car. This is my first and last Toyota - so much for the vaunted Toyota quality.

Battery drain; rear hatch issues; but good seating/storage
by engineeringmom ,Jul 16 '09
Pros: Flexible seating/storage configurations. AWD good (not great) in snow/ice. Cons: Runflat tire: short lifespan; rear hatch still bad after recall; 'features' lead to battery drain
Bought new in 2004 due to a steep winter driveway and flexible seat/storage configuration. AWD run flat tires wear prematurely (see class action lawsuit which lead to reimbursement for 2nd set of tires; nb, we are on our third set with less than 50,000); rear gate struts have been replaced twice -- once under warranty, once under recall -- but still can slam on one's head when air temp < 15 degrees; interior lights don't necessarily turn off after 20 minutes as designed (and sometimes come on by themselves), leading to many a dead battery, no matter how one sets master switch; headlights don't provide enough illumination as compared to other minivans; so-so rear visibility.

Great family vehicle
by ruagorecki2000 ,Apr 23 '05
Pros: Window shades, Many cup holders, spacious, mirror to watch the kids, great safety features. Cons: price, fake wood
The Toyota Sienna is a great family vehicle. The sliding doors make getting the kids in and out of thier car seats a breeze. Being able to open the sliding doors and the rear door with the remote makes shopping easier. The interior is spacious. The leather seats makes cleaning up after kids less time consuming. Just wipe them down. The seat warmers in the front seats are great in the winter months. The Toyota Sienna was made for a family. All the rear windows have roll up window shades to keep the sun out of the kids eyes. There is a rear view mirror for the watching the kids in the back. 10 speaker sound system. That comes with a subwoofer. CD and Cassette player. Cup holders everywhere. The item that sold me for the van is all the safety features. All wheel drive, traction control, front driver and passenger airbags, Side airbags, and curtain airbags from front to rear. If you are in the market for a minivan the Toyota Sienna is a must see.
