Pros: Material quality, design, comfort, car-like feel, interior versatility Cons: Power only adequate, no FX35 in the handling department, no third row, some features gimmicky
Few people take SUVs off road. Instead, they want them for their high seating position, cargo and people hauling abilities, and rugged (non-minivan) image. At the same time, conventional SUVs ponderous handling and rough ride, due to their truck ...
Pros: Stylish, comfortable, adequate power, reasonable utility; Japanese reliability Cons: Typical SUV cons: gas guzzler, heavy car, body roll
We needed a family car and my wife refused to drive a van. She also wanted luxury and I demand reliability. The Lexus RX330 satisfies my wifes desire for a luxury SUV, and my requirements for a reliable family car. CROSSOVER SUV By no mistake ...
Pros: Brand, fit and finish, reputable quality. Cons: Power?
Due to an impending baby on the way, we decided to give up our rusting 1988 Legend coupe and purchase an SUV in its place. We ended up buying a 2001 Acura MDX from my parents when they purchased their new Lexus RX330. See my review on the Acura MDX at ...
Pros: Complete Luxury, Great On-Road Manners Cons: Limited Off-Road Abilities, Price Tag
Ask anyone. After driving Japanese imports for a couple of years, it is nearly impossible to drive anything else. Surely, luxury-level European cars have its own appeal and taste, but Japanese cars seem to have the impeccable fit and finish that even the ...
Pros: Latest technology, luxurious, comfortable and safe. Cons: Inflexible option packaging makes users choose between ultra-high end audio and performance packages.
**UPDATE** Our RX330 is the $35,600 front wheel drive version (an all-wheel drive version is available for an extra $2000) with Performance Package ($5,455), DVD Navigation with Rear Camera ($2,350), and Dynamic Laser Cruise Control ($600). It ended ...
Pros: Big enough for baby and package carrying duty, enough like a car to feel safe Cons: Strangely placed seat warmer for the passenger.
The handling of the car is excellent. You are able to drive it normally, without the sluggish feel of the bigger models (the Volvo, especially).Like a few of the other folks who've reviewed this car and other SUVs, the catalyst for buying it was the ...
Pros: Good vehicle, needs suspension redesign. Cons: A couple of cheap looking cosmetic touches. Unsafe full load capabilities.
My trade-in for this vehicle was a 2001 RX-300. On the test drive I felt as if I had written a letter to Lexus, describing the weak areas of the 300 and they proceeded to address ninety percent of them. Foremost among the improvements is the ...
Pros: comfort, ease of loading cargo, sporty handling, updated styling Cons: rough and noisy engine, confused transmission, harsh ride
This is my wife's car. She turned in her 2000 GS 300 and leased a fairly loaded RX 330 in hopes of having more room for all her "stuff". I have had the opportunity to drive this car during her business travels, as it is nice to take a break from my ...
Pros: such a nice looking car, smooth ride, durable, good in snow Cons: SUVs eat gas (at least it's not premium I'm paying for)
In desperate need of an SUV, my parents bought the new RX330. The final decision came down to a choice between the BMW X5 and 2004 Lexus RX330. We bought this car because we figured that we couldn't go wrong, considering the earlier model RX300 was a ...
Pros: Almost everything, well there are a lot of things in this car Cons: Seat Memory dosen't work right well thats an extra thing
Price: An expensive car but worth the price. Engine: Fantastic compared to my last car that was a Mercury Mystique. Transmission: The transmission is pretty fast, the gear stick is neat. Leather: Wow! The leather is Xtremely comforta ...
Pros: Ride. Tons of "little things". Good mileage for an LUV. Looks sharp. Cons: Could be quicker. No coin holder.
We have hard our RX330 for about 5 months which now has around 15,000 miles on it and we love it. It is a very comfortable, quite, enjoyable ride. It has more everything than our 2000 Saturn L-series and gets about the same mileage. We have gotten 27MPG on trips. It is a true luxury vehicle in all aspects.
Great ride, nice handling and a good size by dahlia6706 ,Mar 29 '04
Pros: Ride, handling, size, customer service Cons: Cost, fuel consumption
This is a great smallish SUV that doesn't feel like a truck. The ride is smooth and quiet. The handling is very responsive and graceful. The styling is elegant inside and outside. It is much easier to get in and out of this car than any of its competitors (believe me, I've tried them all). The cargo space fills up quickly, but is still decent compared to its competitors. It handled very impressively in the snow and ice this past winter. While the rear view visibility is somewhat limited, the rear camera helps a lot (available with the great navigation system) and this rear visibility is still better on the Lexus than on some of the competitors. After one year, we've had only a few minor mechanical problems. Additionally, Lexus is a very customer-oriented company and is a pleasure to work with.
TERRIBLE climate control system by rthiessen ,Dec 01 '04
Pros: Good ride and handling, very comfortable seating. Cons: Climate control system.
I have driven (endured) this car for 15 months (35000 Km). It is a fantastic car to drive, as long as temperatures are below freezing or above 75 degrees. The fan speed is much too high even at its lowest speed, so it always feels drafty and the center vents cannot be closed completely. If they are deflected upward, rear seat passengers complain. When the air flow is directed to the floor (heater), air continues to flow through the upper left vent (dealer says this is normal - not so on my Toyota or 15 previous vehicles). When it was suggested that I could block the vents with a rag I blew my cool. Other problems have included rattles in the dash, rain sensor wipers working erratically, cracked windshield - started below visible portion(no stone chip). This vehicle is NOT a keeper!
GREAT CAR LOUSY TRANSMISSION by grassvalleyed ,Apr 11 '04
Pros: GREAT FEATURES, FINE COMFORTABLE RIDE, GOOD HANDLING, VERY UTILITARIAN. Cons: TRANSMISSION SHIFTING
QUALITY, FIT AND FINISH ARE FLAWLESS. RIDE, COMFORT, QUIETNESS, GOOD ERGONOMICS AND ABUNDANT ACCESSORIES MAKE FOR A LUXURY AUTO/SUV. LOTS OF ROOM. DRIVING IS SMOOTH, QUIET AND HANDLES VERY WELL. THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT IS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING IN THE LOWER GEARS 1-2, 2-3. THERE IS A DELAY BETWEEN GEARS WITH A SURG IN THE MOTOR. THE DEALER HAS ADDRESSED THE PROBLEM WITH A TECH SERVICE BULLETIN THAT APPARENTLY DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. I ALSO RECEIVED "IT IS NORMAL" FROM THE DEALER'S STAFF FOR A FEW OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAD - LIKE THE RIGHT MIRROR LOWERING ABOUT HALF WAY WHEN IN REVERSE AND DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AIR LEAK NOISE.
Pros: The seats are very comfortable. The ride is very quiet. Cons: Driving up a steep hill the car smelled like burnt rubber.
Great Visibility. The side mirrors move downward when you reverse is a help. The is a problem with the slope of the roof. When it rains and you open the door the water rolls onto the leather seats.
