disappointing
by alichronic ,Jul 26 '08
Pros: Heath Ledger was great, some interesting sociological points Cons: long, batman's voice sounds like that of a long time smoker, and oh yeah, LONG.
I was actually bored. I loved Batman Begins, but The Dark Knight lacked something, perhaps ninjas ;). Seriously though, I thought the movie was going to end like 5 times. I can't remember the last time I checked my cell phone so many times in a movie. Two and a half hours is WAY too long for anyone to sit still and watch The Joker get caught and get away so many times. I don't regret seeing it, but I doubt I will see it again.
I know everybody in the world loved this movie except me, but special effects and violence aren't enough to make a movie Oscar-worthy, sorry. I prefer worthy dialogue and fresh ideas, not repeating the same things over and over with different explosions in the background. I also felt that a lot of the point of this movie was, "look at all the cool technology we can give Batman!". I know that realism is not the point in movies like these, but they seem to go through millions of dollars of high-tech gadgets like toilet paper.

The Long Semi-Boring Dark Knight
by djh27521 ,Aug 10 '08
Pros: Good special effects. Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine were excellent. The vehicles are really cool! Cons: Long and goes on and on and on!
This movies started off great then got a little weird. It was almost like they forgot something and decided to put it in later and then they did it again. You might think this was a good verses evil movie but in the long run you would be scratching your head wonder what the hell just happen! You are obviously getting set up for a sequel of some sort. Kind of reminds me of when Spock got killed in one of the Star Trek movies. Everyone says the this is Heath Ledger's best performance. I would say it was kind of like watching paint dry. I kept wondering when Batman was finally going to get him. Reminded me a lot of the Titanic movie when Leonardo DiCaprio was in the fridge water carrying on this thirty minute conversation and not noticing the water was freezing. Yes I know this is fantasy but at least have the common courtesy of not shoving all the Hollywood baloney at us. If you really want to see this movie then wait about nine months and rent it!

Incredible movie
by byst33 ,Aug 12 '08
Pros: LEDGER, acting, action, story Cons: Bale's cheesy voice, somewhat unbelievable technologies
This movie is a near-perfect sequel to the great movie that was Batman Begins. I haven't decided which film is better, but Joker is by far the best Batman villain. There's no need to compliment Ledger's performance -- everyone has already done that.
I personally was happy to see little character development. All of the characters have appeared in Batman films before in some shape or form, and it would be a dull movie if the characters we know and love are reintroduced. The joker has no explanation or story and that's what makes him so interesting. I don't mind watching over two hours of twists and turns that show the true dark side to the Batman story.
The fact that everyone I know has seen this movie at least twice speaks for itself (one has seen it 6 times).

Bad Knight
by sj101 ,Sep 19 '08
Pros: Good overall casting and more daylight scenes than night Cons: Unnecessarily long, incoherent plot, The Batman's overly deep voice, annoying Joker.
I enjoy superhero movies, but this is probably the worst one. I can't believe it is the second biggest grossing movie of all time. The plot is not that coherent, Heath Ledger's Joker is annoying, and The Batman's voice is comically too deep.
It had so much potential: good casting overall, good concept of a story introducing Harvey Dent (for White Knight/Dark Knight contrast). But there were more failings. It was very difficult watching this overly long movie because the plot seemed to be jigsawed together. The Joker was almost omnipotent, doing whatever he wanted with seemlessly endless resources -- that is not the Joker. The Joker is not supposed to be as smart and powerful as portrayed.
Here are some other comments: - I felt like I was watching a very poor imitation of 24 when watching the interrogation scenes.
- It was quite dumb to have Bruce Wayne wreck his Lamborgini, it was unnecessary and plain dumb.

Best Action Film of 2008
by actorboydisney ,Sep 20 '08
Pros: Heath Ledger was an amazing villian.\
Cons: Batman turning into a villiam
I felt the movie was well written. Heath Ledger definately went out with a bang. The movie flowed well and kept the audience on the edge of their seats. When I thought the movie was over, something would happen making me want to watch more. By the end of the movie I was dissapointed that is was over.

The Greatest Batman Yet
by mk2munky ,Aug 07 '08
Pros: -Great cast
-Amazing plot
-Heath Ledger IS the Joker Cons: -None
Well, where to begin. There is an all-star cast, and they are backed by strong writers and movie crew members, which makes for a great movie. The movie appeals to a wide range of viewers and you don't have to be a comic book reader to enjoy this film.
While the movie does go pretty long, it certainly doesn't overstay it's welcome. The plot is full of twists and turns as well as subplots and suspense. There is also strong character development and clear-cut conflict facing Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), as well as others on the cast.
The part I most enjoyed was Heath Ledger's part. He played the Joker so well that it's almost impossible to put it to words. I don't think that anyone could tell him how to do it better than he did. Flawless.

The Dark Knight, So-So okay.
by afaye08 ,Aug 13 '08
Pros: Heath did a great job. It was relatively funny. Cons: Bale sucks as Batman. The story is twisted.
To be completely honest, I was not impressed with it at all. The story line is twisted with the Joker never telling how his face became the way it is, (he makes up different stories each time he tries to tell people). And Harvey Dent/Two Face, did not get burned originally, he was splashed in the face with acid. Heath Ledger did give a great performance as the Joker though. I think the movie is more funny than anything. I was told before seeing the movie it was going off the comics. WRONG! As for Christian Bale, seriously, did it bother anyone else that he sounded constipated in his suit? I know he wasn't going to talk the same way as he does when he's not in public, but come on. Sorry, but me being one of the biggest fans of Batman, I do not think this movie was all it was cracked up to be. Like I said, it was So-So Okay.

The Dark Knight Review
by sevie-boy ,Aug 04 '08
Pros: Acting, Story, Contents, Almost EVERYTHING! Cons: Rachel, Dumb cops..
I LOVED THIS MOVIE!! I thought the 1st one was good until i saw this action packed 2 1/2 hrs. long movie. I guess it ran on pretty long buy without out it being that long i feel they would have rushed the movie. The acting was AMAZING! Heath Ledger (God bless his soul) did a SPECTACULAR job i have never seen him do that good in a movie, i mean u cant even tell its him! Although i did not like how they couldn't of used the Rachel from Batman Begins that kinda ticked me off. I mean come on, they got the old Mariam to do the new Indiana Jones movie!! Altogether this movie is a MUST SEE you will not be disappointed unless ur like Alichronic who wanted ninjas and more time to hang with his mom after the movie!

Good but too long
by qcgirl ,Jul 28 '08
Pros: Heath Ledger gave an outstanding spell-binding performance Cons: Maggie Gillenhal does not physically fit the part
I went expecting to love it like I did the first one. First let me say the highlight is definitely Heath Ledger as the Joker. His performance is simply flawless and he steals every scene he appears in. Caine and Freeman are their usual good and Bale seems to be a little one dimentional for my taste. What ruined it for me is Maggie Gillenhal as the love interest. Sure she can act, but her physique does not fit the part. When the guy tells her she is so beautiful... I just did not believe it. Two guys head over heels for her? Give me a break! There are dozens of other actresses that could have fit the bill...just not Maggie. Her character should be gorgeous, can anyone call her that? She is cute at best. I also thought the movie was way too long...I must have looked at the time 5 times in the last half hour.

Great Performance by both Heath and Christian
by lily1104 ,Aug 04 '08
Pros: Excellent story line with lots of great action. Cons: Sadly Heath Ledger's final movie.
I didn't see Batman Begins in the theater. I'm personally a big Michael Keaton "Batman" fan and never liked any of the other actors who played the role. I finally watched Batman Begins and was thoroughly impressed with Bale's performance. It was more realistic and believable instead of all the "cartoonish" action of the originals. The Dark Knight, yes it is "dark" but for a very good reason. Gotham is being overrun by criminals and those out to stop Batman, good guys and bad. The character build was excellent especially for Dent. Ledger's performance as the Joker was outstanding and very creepy. There was no room for compassion with this guy. Bale's performance as Batman, well let's just say he is Batman!

very good movie
by erkcuf ,Aug 24 '08
Pros: acting, action Cons: nothing
I can truly say I was very fascinated by the entire movie. The acting, the action sequences were very good. Only thing was the length of the movie. Almost three hours is a bit much for me.

Loved it!!
by godessmissy ,Aug 04 '08
Pros: Heath Ledger as The Joker Cons: Christian Bale -Mr. No personality
Honestly, Christian Bale who plays the Batman is not my favorite and I only think this movie was good since Heath Ledger played an amazing Joker character. It's totally worth seeing but it is pretty long so go to a nice theatre so your butt won't hurt. Heath will win an award for his performance it was amazing to me how much out of character he was.

Best Show In Years
by birdman2000 ,Jul 28 '08
Pros: Heath Ledger as Joker, LOTS of action, great twists Cons: They should have blown up the boat load of civilians to follow real life.
Heath Ledger was phenomenal. The movie was outstanding. A friend of mine has already seen it six times. I can see why. Give this film an Oscar! I will see it a couple more times in the theater with friends and then I'll buy the DVD or Blu-Ray Disc. Did I mention that this movie was phenomenal??? My only con to the movie: they should have blown up the boat load of people. What boat load of people? See the movie and see if you agree.
