A miracle for some but just a good (very expensive) moisturizer for me

by PattyTherre PattyTherre is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Wellness & Beauty, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Aug 19 '06
Pros: Very concentrated, hydrates dry skin well
Cons: Very expensive, no anti aging ingredients, no SPF, greasy
I can't stand not trying popular and highly hyped skin care products. I just have to see for myself if the hype is just that or if I have been missing out of the fountain of youth in a jar or bottle. Quite a while ago, I decided I HAD to try La Mer ...

No wonder it's a cult fave...

by anti-donatella , May 09 '05
Pros: Utterly eliminates all remnants of dry skin. Soothing benefits as well.
Cons: $110 might be out of your price range for a moisturizer.
Introduction First off, I'll state my case: I am 19 years old, I live in Hawaii, and I have text-book combination skin. In fact, I think I have an extreme case of combo skin. Dry patches settle in strategic areas while the rest is ...

Creme De La Mer - "Miracle Cream" and my Neiman Marcus Bill

by zzJulia Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jun 07 '05
Pros: Versatile for many different skin types.
Cons: Ridiculously expensive and overhyped.
I'm really a lotion girl, but I've been buying Creme de la Mer for years. I mean, I've been buying it for so long that it used to "only" be $90 per oz. instead of the whopping $110 per oz it is today. WHAT THE HECK IS IT FOR? The website ...

Good. But Not as Miraculous As They Claim

by hollywoodgirl , Apr 05 '05
Pros: Nice Smell, moisturizes well.
Cons: The Price. Doesn't do what it claims.
What can $98 buy you? Let's see, a week's worth of groceries for a couple, a nice dress, one night in a three star hotel, or a 1 oz. jar of this much touted, Crème De La Mer creme. The formula for this overpriced concoction of seaweed extract, mineral ...

La Mer Face Cream - Hype and fishes

by pranapana , Mar 10 '07
Pros: Worked for a short while
Cons: Super Expensive, irritated / sensitized my skin
About Me I'm almost 30 and I inherently have dry-ish skin, exacerbated by being in air conditioning pretty much 90% of my life. That said, I have very good skin, genetically, but have managed to sensitize it by using expensive products that ...

Fountain of Youth in a Jar? I'll take that!

by Deandra , Aug 28 '05
Pros: Works very well at minimizing lines & plumping up the skin.
Cons: Price, the step you have to take to warm it, fragrance.
I had read a lot of reviews & stories about this miraculous face cream that was touted to reverse the signs of aging by filling in tiny lines & wrinkles. After much thought I decided to give it a go & managed to score some of this from Ebay. I'm not ...

a convert

by klon , Aug 11 '05
Pros: non-oily moisturizer that works, beautiful glow
Cons: very very expensive, can be hard to find for purchase or to try, labor intensive
I had read of the cult status of this creme, especially by celebrities. I decided to splurge and bought myself a 1oz. jar. The creme is a bit labor intensive, you need to 'warm up' the creme and gently pat into your skin. I would prefer to smear it ...

Well, this product did something good for me!

by callmacher , Aug 16 '06
Pros: Cleared up my neck acne pretty fast!
Cons: Made my face too shiny and is very very thick!
This will be a short review but I just wanted to give my 2 cents about this product. The first time I had ever heard of CDLM was on a show on tv about what the rich and famous splurge on etc. I looked up the product on ebay to see how much it was going ...

IT'S NOT WORTH IT, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

by barscorp_99 , Nov 04 '06
Pros: - good moisturizer - neutral smell
Cons: - very overpriced for what it can do - just a basic moisturizer
It not worth it honey, don't waste your money, learn from my mistake. I am 29 and I don't have much wrinkles yet, I thought this is a good time to start investing on my skin, buy a high quality that works really well. I have been hearing about Creme de ...

Very Expensive

by calliegal , Oct 11 '05
Pros: Wonderful smell, goes on smoothly.
Cons: Unwarranted price. Too expensive for such common ingredients.
Creme de la Mer is all the rage with Hollywood celebrities who make 15 million dollars and up per motion picture. It's incredibly expensive. The 1 oz. miracle "Creme de la Mer" retails for $110.00 on the La Mer site. It's impressively packaged, ...

GOOD BUT NOT THAAAAAT GOOD

by brenda_001 , Nov 07 '06
Pros: - good product
Cons: - very expensive for what it can deliver - boring, simple packaging
Yes, Creme de la Mer is a good moisturizer but it's not that good compared to other high-quality moisturizers that you'll find at department stores. They are pretty much the same quality and I have tried good brands like Shishiedo, Estee Lauder, Vichy, ...

Is this fancy cold cream?

by btbtabg , Dec 15 '05
Pros: lasting moisturizing effect
Cons: very expensive
I just got my eagerly awaited 1oz. jar from Neiman's. I used it as directed and the good news is that just a little bit has done wonders in moisturizing my skin. My skin gets very dry in the winter and I use have been using the heavy creams from ...

What's the big deal with this stuff?
by retail_addict ,Jun 28 '05
Pros: Moisturizing, but I find I can get the same moisture from cheaper drugstore brands.
Cons: Price. Definitely not worth the performance of the product.
I wasn't too thrilled with Creme de la Mer. I was excited when I first brought the tiny jar (.25oz/$25). I was thinking "ooh now I can have skin like the celebrities!" This creme is very moisturizing, but I find I can get the same effect with Cetaphil or many other CHEAPER creams on the market. I kept hearing how this is a miracle cream, but I don't see how. A miracle cream in my opinion would be moisturizing, have sunscreen of at least SPF15, a fading agent to get rid of any marks, Alpha Hydroxy to rid of dead skin cells and make skin smooth and glowing. This cream just moisturizes. It moisturizes just like many of the cheaper creams on the market. My Palmers Fade Cream has shown me WAY better results for $5. It has sunscreen, evens skin tone, moisturizes, and has AHAs for a smooth complexion. I won't be wasting my money on Creme de la Mer again.

Greatest stuff on Earth
by lsirn ,Sep 30 '06
Pros: really moisturizes, heals existing blemishes
Cons: Price
I was very apprehensive about spending this amount of money on something that I had never even seen in person. I read reviews for a good 2 weeks and gave in and ordered it from the lamer.com site. It was sooooo worth it. I have combo skin - dry areas with t-zone and break out daily. I started using it and within days my pimples were gone. My face was smooth and soft without any traces of dryness. It actually changed the look of my complexion!! It was the greatest investment I ever made. I just ran out and have been waiting for my next tub of it. I have been using clinique since I ran out last week and started to break out. I love this stuff!!

Wonderful for the Extremely Dry
by marilynd ,Jan 07 '07
Pros: Ultimate hydration; usable on all areas including eyes and neck.
Cons: None. (Specific skin type required).
Most people don't suffer from the extreme case of dry skin that plague some of us. The kind that send you directly from the shower to the moisturizer. When you get out of the shower your face actually feels so tight it hurts. Although this product is very rich, the amount you need to surpress the discomfort is minimal. A pea size for your entire neck, face and yes, your eyes, (okay, I admit, I use a cashew size), is sufficient. Don't buy any special 'eye cremes' as this product serves this purpose well. It was important for me to review this product since I have been using it for over 10 years and could not live without it. When used appropriately, a 1 oz. jar should really last you 1 year. Others have said 6 months, but you'd have to be 'overdosing' to get through it that quickly. I will be the first to say there are NO miracle creams, but this is the closest I've found to help people with severely dry skin. Thanks La Mer.
