Pros: Easy to use, reduces steam, boils water quickly. Cons: Only 1.7 liters capacity, high electricity usage.
I had knee surgery last February and I knew I was not going to want to walk around for a few weeks. So I thought the easiest thing to do was to get an electric teakettle and use that to heat water for my food. For the first week I ate a lot of instant ...

Pros: Boils water quickly, looks good Cons: none
Occasionally, I will make a purchase I feel is worthy of the words, "The best $___ I've ever spent." Although that phrase seems a bit exaggerated, I only use it when I find something I believe to be a truly remarkable value - and my family LOVES the ...

Pros: Boils water quickly, good handle, stable, great value for the money. Cons: None.
Great Kettle. We use it every day, sometimes multiple times a day. We had a problem with the first one we purchased after nine months or so - it started to leak a little around the base. We had purchased it from Wal-Mart. We called GE to ask about ...

Excellent Kettle! Excellent Price.
by vasttree ,May 20 '05
Pros: Fast water boiler, solid build, excellent price. Cons: top opening is a little small for my hand; makes cleaning a little difficult.
This kettle does everything you want from a tea kettle. It boils water FAST and then shuts off. It rotates in its base a full 360 degrees too.
What I do not understand is why anyone would pay three or four times the cost of this kettle to get essentially the same functional product. I bought this for my office, but made the mistake of trying it out at home first, and this kettle has caused us to completely abandon our stovetop kettle.
The top opening could be a little larger to facilitate cleaning.
I am clearly going to have to get another of these kettles for my office!

Fine Kettle
by cityboyinburbs ,Feb 08 '07
Pros: Heats water PDQ, shuts off reliably, obviously well-made. What more can you ask? Cons: Comes from our friends at WallyWorld
When my upmteenth whistling teakettle died, just like the rest, from my inattention (Yes - burned-up yet another one by leaving it on stove for 3 hours), I got the bright idea of getting an auto-shutoff ELECTRIC kettle.
After research, decided they were all pretty-much alike, big differences being wattage & construction: Metal -vs- Plastic. Since I hate the idea of mixing heat, water and melt-able plastic, decided metal was the way to go. Reading more I learned that some people were having problems with kettles rusting out... So look for stainless steel, it too rusts, but it rusts S L O W L Y. A lot of looking around led me to this GE Kettle.
Was a little hesitant as had read *somewhere* on the Net that this little beauty leaked. I've found no such problems in 2+/- months I've had the kettle. Given low price, and cheap delivery from our friends at WallyWorld, this is a bargain IMHO.
Heats the water PDQ, !! shuts off reliably, obviously well-made, and stainless on exterior slightly matte, so cleaning off water spots not needed every 2 seconds. What more can you ask?

Poor quality switch
by marika216 ,Dec 31 '06
Pros: Attractive design. Comfortable handle. Cons: Unreliable electronics.
I've had my GE electric tea kettle for three days, and it worked only three times. The flimsy on/off switch then ceased to function, rendering the kettle completely useless.
I don't know why the switch broke; it looks fine. Though I followed usage instructions carefully, a guest intrigued with the kettle may have touched the switch and tried to move it sideways or to turn it. The only instructions near the switch are an impossible to read "0" and "I" embossed in black near the bottom of the black base to indicte off and on -- inadequate to
indicate off/on positions or directionality. To find the "0" and "I," you must lift the kettle to eye level and turn it toward the light.
Cheap electronics doom this otherwise fine kettle. Don't buy one. Now I face the hassle of attempting to return it for a refund: ugh!
